Have you stuck to your new years resolution?

How Hypnotherapy can kick your new resolutions back into action!

So we are nearly at the end of January, 31 days into 2014 and I’m keen to find out how many of you that made a new years resolution are still going strong?

According to research, 9 days in is the average date that people will give up and return to their old life. In fact, three-quarters of 3,000 British adults surveyed admitted they were no longer confident they would stick to their promises for the rest of the month. Were you one of those people?

Here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy we are starting to see an increase in enquiries from clients looking to lose weight, stop smoking or cut down their alcohol consumption with Hypnotherapy. In addition to these are the clients who are looking to boost their confidence levels and let go of their anxiety. They thought they would try and ‘just get on with it’ themselves, only to find that they are still in the same place as 2013!

If this is something that you can relate to , please click here or call us on 01223 720 120 to arrange a complimentary initial consultation. Here we can explain to you in more detail about exactly what Hypnotherapy is, and how you can achieve your results in only 2-3 sessions.

Cambridge Hypnotherapy are one of the few full time Hypnotherapist centres around, and we tailor our work to you as an individual so you can be sure you’re going to get your results. We are all Master Practitioners of Hypnosis, TimeLine therapy and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming).

I look forward to hearing from you.

Guaranteed to lose weight in Cambridge with Hypnotherapy

In the coming months we are pleased to announce that we are releasing our new system that will help you to lose weight with Hypnotherapy. Cambridge Hypnotherapy have worked with no end of clients to help them lose weight easily and effectively in only 3 sessions, and also make sure that their change in mindset when it comes to food and exercise is permanent. One thing that has started to become apparent for many of our clients is that due to their daily routines, wether it be work life or family life, it is simply not possible to belong to a gym. This limits the amount of high intensity exercise that they have been able to do, simply due to a lack of being taught the correct exercises and how to do them at home.

Using Luke’s previous experience as a qualified fitness instructor, personal trainer and nutritionist he has designed a plan that you can now follow in your own home. He will show you what to eat and when to eat it as well as provide you with an exercise routine to follow in the comfort of your own home using nothing but your own bodyweight.

So how does this differ from other home exercise routines you may be wondering?  Well, you will also be provided with a range of Hypnosis CD’s to allow you to make the changes at an unconscious level so that you find it easy to stick to and maintain your weight loss permanently. You will get one CD to listen to before each and every workout that you do, as well 4 other CD’s to listen to at weekly intervals of your plan.

If you would like to find out more about how easy it can be to lose weight at home, without needing to join a gym and be signed into 12 month contracts etc, please contact us here, or call us on 01223 720 120.

We GUARANTEE you will change on this plan……

Summer is Coming…… lose weight with Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Monday, May 20th, 2013

The clearest indication for us at Cambridge Hypnotherapy that summer is on the way here is when our enquiries regarding losing weight with Hypnotherapy increase, as they have done over the past few weeks.

Hypnotherapy is fantastic with helping clients to lose weight LONG TERM, and not just for the short term like many other weight loss plans such as Slimming World, Weight Watchers, and all those other fad diets out there. Make no doubt about it, they will ALL help you lose weight, however that’s always going to be a given when your eating habits are restricted. Think about it, if you were given an eating plan to follow forcing you to eat less, with public weigh ins each week, you have to lose weight, it’s that simple!!!!

The only question is, what happens after you have finished your 8 – 12 week course of dieting etc. Well the most common outcome will be you go straight back to your old eating habits and pile the weight straight back on!

So how are we different? Well to start with we don’t set out any sort of eating plan. My job is not to teach people how to suck eggs, and everyone consciously knows what they should and shouldn’t eat. Weight loss with hypnotherapy with us here is all about working at the unconscious level. We can help eradicate the emotional eating, those times when we eat junk because we’re upset, or had a stressful day, or those times when we resort to raiding the cupboards because we’re bored and it’s convenient. We also start to recreate the mind-body connection so that our clients feel full up quicker than previously and therefore are unable to consume too much food, as well as only being able to eat when they are hungry which helps eradicate any snacking on unhealthy foods between meal times.

The other huge added benefit of losing weight with Cambridge Hypnotherapy, is that your weight loss and changes to your eating habits can be PERMANENT! In my entire time as a Hypnotherapist in Cambridge, I have never worked with someone again for weight loss after helping them change first time around.

If you would like to lose weight, feel better about yourself and become more confident in your body, contact us now to find out how easy it is in only 2-3 sessions with a FREE initial consultation, or call us on 01223 720 120.

Can we Cure?

The other day a prospective client came to our complimentary initial consultation saying they had been told by their friends to see a hypnotherapist to get cured. Oh I forgot to add the cure was also to be guaranteed.

This begs the question

Who do we know who can say they can cure?” Or “Who do you know who can and does guarantee a cure?

Let’s see….

v     A physiotherapist….. No

v     A nurse……………No

v     Oh! I know a doctor…… No. We have all heard of patients being told   there’s nothing more we can do or the prognosis is ‘x’ amount of time left to live. Some cure!

v     A Surgeon…… No, they get you to sign a consent form and give percentage chances of a full recovery.

The thing is we believe if a client can be cured they actually cure themselves, it’s just they get help from someone like us, and the processes we have developed, here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy. You see we believe this because there are so many cases of remission of illnesses without a supposed cure so then logically, why can’t anyone do the same thing? Ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Now we seem to be have been talking about really serious illnesses or dis-ease and whilst we jump at the chance to help anyone suffering in this way many of the symptoms we see with our clients are:

v     Depression

v     Anxiety

v     Low self-esteem

v     Eating disorders

v     Drinking issues

v    Weight Loss

v     Stopping or quitting smoking

v     Gambling

v     And the list goes on and on and on.

The thing is if someone can overcome serious illness (and they do, we all know that) then the list above should not be that difficult to resolve when the will is there, that “I’m prepared to do whatever it takes”. We are all ordinary people who can do extraordinary things!

Why do we believe this?

Because we (Paul, Luke and Joseph) have all have had many experiences of our clients making wonderful changes to their lives. It’s not magic but a very magical experience for us and our clients. It’s the reason we do this ‘job’ which isn’t really a job when you’re passionate, as we are, about what we do.

Yo-Yo Dieting? ~ Cambridge Hyponotherapy’s answer

Thursday, January 24th, 2013

SO what is it about the Yo-yo effect of dieting?

Why do so many people go on a diet and crash only to find they become heavier than they started and more saddened and unmotivated?

Why do some people fall off the healthy eating and exercise regime and never get to their weight and shape they dream of and long for?

There’s probably one answer to all those at the heart, with a few side issues tagged along.

When we set our new weight goal how many know that the new you will be a different person than the old in so many ways?

Very few is the answer. They seem to think when we reach the goal we can live like we did before. Some even think they can live like they did before during this transition.

Guess what? It will never happen!

The old adage of ‘do what you did before = get what you got before’ is there for a reason.

SO how can we make this change with ease?

Firstly if we understand we will be a different person then we need to let go of the underlying beliefs towards food and exercise that have underpinned the old you, when you do this the changes become exciting and natural and not ‘a regime’ or a hardship or a sacrifice.

Yes we know that this to the conscious and intellectual way of thinking makes complete sense, doing this without knowing how is almost impossible. That’s where someone like us comes in to play, because we do this part for a living ~ it’s second nature to us, it’s what we’re trained to do.

You don’t need fad diets, fad hypno bandy thingies (we’ve written about those before!) simply letting go of negative beliefs and old emotional attachments to food etc with a little tweak to our motivation strategy and away you go.

If for those who need company or assistance after that then you may consider:

  • A personal trainer to start you off gradually where you will see and feel quick improvements
  • A nutritionist to help you prepare your healthy eating life
  • Join one of the diet clubs because now you can with confidence of finishing where you want to be.
  • Get a couple of friends along and plan your own workouts
  • Find out about new and exotic foods that tantalize you taste buds and become a food connoisseur where you savor the taste not the quantity.
  • Plus any other wonderful pursuits your new you can explore….Hmmmmm.

There you go that should be enough to get you thinking in the right way.

We’re here to help and initially it only costs you 20 minutes of your time ~ no money involved at all to come a speak with us an learn how we can help you get that new you (remember the old one got you the way you are now) and keep it.

Lose weight with Hypnotherapy? Let’s change your mindset about food and watch that happen anyway!!!

Monday, January 7th, 2013

2013 is upon us, and no doubt 1000’s of people out there are now starting to plan their new healthy eating diets and joining up with their local gyms in order to lose weight, as this year they’re sure things will be different…..

I admire their initial motivation, and their positive approach to weight loss is wonderful to see, but I really do think that these people are approaching losing weight COMPLETELY wrong. The reason I think this is simple….. FOOD is not the problem, THEY are!! As they think about not eating that rich chocolate cake that’s in the fridge, or those tins of chocolates left over after Christmas, or even all those other goodies they have in the cupboard, one thing is for certain…. they are thinking about food!! Quite simply whatever you focus on you will get, even if you are telling yourself not to do it.

You can try this yourself pretty simply by doing the following… First think about not eating chocolate and notice what happens. I’m sure you are already thinking about the chocolate that you want to not eat, and how good it tastes when you ate it before. Now go ahead and think about eating a nice juicy orange, and notice the pictures you create in your mind. Completely different pictures right? However, when you look at it both outcomes are the same, only one is focusing on what you want to not do, and the other on what you do want to do. Compare this to a Sat Nav…. how often would you ever put in where you don’t want to go to? If you did put in where you wanted to not go to, it would end up taking you there, not good!

Our approach to helping  you lose weight is very straightforward and easy. We simply help you change what food means to you, and start to get your mind focusing on what you do want to eat, how much you want to exercise, and what you want to look like, not what you don’t want to look like.

Here is an email from a recent client that found out just how easy it can to change with Cambridge Hypnotherapy.

I admit I came to hypnotherapy a cynic. I had tried diets and exercise and never stuck to them before and I wasn’t sure how hypnotherapy could help me. I am so pleased I gave it a go! The hypnotherapy helped change my mind set and now not only do I eat healthily and exercise regularly – I enjoy it too! In fact the whole experience has been thoroughly enjoyable – I have loved talking to you, relished the relaxing feeling of trance when hypnotized and most of all I like the new me that is 1st 8lb lighter and happier! Thank you.

So why not start out your new year with the right approach. You too can achieve the same results in only 2-3 sessions as they did. Contact us here not to arrange your free initial consultation. I look forward to hearing from you 🙂

Who can and can’t be hypnotised?

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

Recently I had an interesting conversation with someone that got me thinking “I wonder who else feels this way?”

On a night out last week, I was introduced to somebody as a ‘hypnotist’. This usually gets a common covering of the eyes gesture, or them comically looking away so as to prevent eye contact with the whole ‘look into my eyes not around the eyes” lines. However this time it was slightly different, in the sense that the individual I met was a huge psychology fan, who took it upon himself to challenge everything that I believe. Now I don’t mind this, as everyone has a right to their own beliefs, and sometimes we do need to step into other peoples worlds in order to understand where they are coming from.

This individual was adamant that hypnosis involved huge amounts of layers that need to be stripped away, and that a deep level of unconsciousness would be needed in order to implant the desired suggestions which only very few people would be capable of. I found this highly interesting and decided to put across my beliefs, that I thought I would like to share with you all.

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness. It doesn’t involve sleep, and it certainly doesn’t involve giving the hypnotist entire control of everything that you do. In theory we have all been hypnotised every single day, just unaware of it as most people don’t know what hypnosis is. What about those times when you start driving, and before you know it your mind wanders off thinking about your tasks for the day, and all of a sudden you notice you have arrived at your destination? Or how about when you start reading a book, and you get 7 or 8 pages in and ask yourself “What have I just read?”. To me these are examples of the state of hypnosis that we all experience regularly, here our unconscious mind takes over and we go into an ‘auto-pilot’ state.

When I hypnotise someone in a session, they are still awake, they are still in control, and if I walked away leaving them like that and a fire alarm went off they would run for the door as quick as anyone else would. Hypnotherapy is a do with process, and involves me working with the clients unconscious mind to achieve their results, whether its losing weight, stopping smoking, letting go of a phobia, or releasing anxiety.

To sum it up, I believe that EVERYONE can be hypnotised, however they can only be hypnotised to do something that want to do, when they want to do it. I can’t MAKE them feel more confident, but i can help part of their mind to understand that they are worthy of everything that they want, and to love who they are.

Stoptober has ended!!!

Thursday, November 1st, 2012

It’s here… The first of November… which means that Stoptober has officially ended!

For those of you that don’t know, Stoptober was a public campaign backed by Cancer Research UK and The British Heart foundation set up to encourage mass quitting of smoking for the 28 days of October. Apparently research showed that those who quit smoking for 28 days are 5 times more likely to stay smoke free. This may well be the case, and for those that did participate in Stoptober I’d love to hear your thoughts and to find out whether you have decided to remain a non smoker or whether you lit up at the first opportunity now that your campaign is over.

The problem with setting yourself a time period to stop for, already predisposes that the quitting period will end, which means you are free to go back. It’s like having a holiday in 6 weeks that you want to lose weight for, and deciding to not eat chocolate for those 6 weeks. In your mind, you will probably already be counting down the days until you can have it again, and this my only concern.

It also doesn’t address the reasons as to why you were smoking in the first place. Were you smoking because you found it an escape from stressful situations, or did you actually enjoy it at the time? To me, these are the real issues that need to be dealt with and reframed so that your unconscious mind can programme itself differently and therefore no longer feel the need for cigarettes anymore.

If you would like to find out more about how Cambridge Hypnotherapy can help you stop smoking in only 1 session, contact us here now and we’d be glad to speak with you.

Why stop for 28 days, and battle through the full 28 just to go straight back to it again, when you could stop smoking in only 1 day!

The Gastric Hypnoband….. real or not???

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

‘The Hypno-Band’ and Weight Loss

I have had a couple of therapists contact me recently to ask me of my thoughts as to ‘The Hypno-Band’. There has been much publicity recently over this system that has been designed to aid clients weight loss within a hypnosis session (or 5) and I thought I’d take some time to share my thoughts on the process and its effectiveness.

So what is it? Well, simply put ‘The Hypno-Band’ is a process whereby the therapist will place their client into a state of hypnosis, and then take their mind on a journey through the actual process of Gastric Band surgery. The hoped for result is that the clients mind will fully accept the process and therefore the following result of having a smaller stomach and eating capacity. That’s it!

So what are my thoughts? Well Quite simply, unless you are the most susceptible person around, I don’t think that for one second you will leave a room believing you have just had ACTUAL surgery and that you are now the proud owner of a Gastric Band, it’s just not going to happen! Yes, the idea of visualising a smaller stomach can allow people to eat less, but surely this can be done without the whole surgery aspect? Does it really take 5 sessions? Well the answer is if you use ‘The Hypno-Band’ probably yes. Does it need to? NO!!! We at Cambridge Hypnotherapy work with clients for no more than 3 sessions.

So how do we differ? We use advanced levels of NLP, TimeLine Therapy and Hypnosis to make quick lasting change! We use NLP to change how your mind perceives food and exercise. If instead of meaning comfort, your unconscious mind saw that the levels of food you were eating made you feel uncomfortable, then it’s not going to lead you to that unhealthy cupboard in your kitchen. If instead of trying to relieve you from that stressful day, your mind saw that your levels of stress were skyrocketing due to still being overweight, again it will not lead you to that cupboard. We also use Hypnosis to allow your mind to find everything that you need from new beliefs, resources and behaviours so that when you walk out of our room, you feel confident and motivated to succeed in your goal and find it easy to just watch the weight fall off!
