How to get results in 2-3 sessions with Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Friday, November 1st, 2013

Joseph and I (Paul) have just finished 2 back to back 8 day intensive trainings in both Cambridge & Bournemouth,  teaching NLP, Time Line Therapy™ and Real Hypnosis. For those that don’t know why anyone would want to learn these skills well there’s generally three reasons.

1 For Personal development

2 To thrive in business

3 To become a therapist and help others

The fact is, generally our participants get all three in abundance

It was great to see everyone pass with flying colours and get their certification as Practitioners in NLP, Time Line Therapy™ and as a Master Hypnotist.

The thing I enjoyed most was to firstly watch the delegates sit quietly on that very first morning of the training, probably thinking “what have I done?” to see them grow in confidence and ability far beyond their dreams.

Secondly to have them fully take on board that the things that clients come in with, of the things they themselves wanted to change were not the problem.

What do I mean?

Well Here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy both Luke and I know that the presenting problem is very rarely the problem. Like the metaphor of the weed it’s only a leaf and if you cut it out the weed will only continue to grow more leaves or problems in your life.

And this is where I think we excel better than most therapists because we take time to find the root cause of our client’s issues and then and only then work on that. When the ‘root’ cause disappears then all the presenting problems disappear.

That’s how we literally only require 2-3 sessions to assist our clients to get the change they want in their life and a whole lot more!. In fact you could probably count the clients that needed more than three sessions on the fingers of one hand.

What we don’t tell is what we do at our Complimentary initial consultation and between the sessions that really makes the difference or the processes that we use and have developed ~ that’s our secret of success with clients.

working as a hypnotherapist in cambridge

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013

I’ve now been a Hypnotherapist in Cambridge for over 6 years. My background has always been Sport and Psychology, going all the way back to when I was at College and studied the 2 subjects at A-Level. Luckily, with the P.E syllabus there was a section on Sports Psychology, and also within the Psychology Syllabus there was a section on Sports Psychology.

Having left College, I decided to train and become qualified as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer having trained in a gym from the age of 16. I became fascinated with how some people could motivate themselves to train on their own, yet others needed someone else to push them. There is also the strange way that people can be very motivated to train on January, yet come April they rarely visit  the gym at all!

The only problem I had with working a gym was job satisfaction. Yes I was helping people become fitter, but I personally was not overly enjoying going to work every day and knew something needed to change.

As it happened my brother and father were about to run a Practitioner course, training people to become a qualified practitioner of NLP, TimeLine Therapy and Hypnosis so I jumped at the chance of enrolling and taking part. Something just clicked during the course, and I realised that this was something that would allow me to help others in a much more satisfying way.

In the following days after successfully completing the course, I saw my first client at Cambridge Hypnotherapy, and have been a full time Hypnotherapist in Cambridge ever since.

Is there something that you want to change? If so, what;’s stopping you!!!

Hypnotherapy Masterclass with Joseph and Paul Clough ~ Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

This weekend Joseph and I are sharing our developments in hypnosis and hypnotherapy in Cambridge to other hypnotherapists, NLP & Time Line Therapy practitioners.

I believe we have taken previous processes, stripped them down to what really works and then made them even better with our own ‘stuff’. ‘Stuff’ being the very technical word for the things we (Joseph, Luke and I, Paul) have developed that create both remarkable change in our clients and really fast change. In effect how we at Cambridge Hypnotherapy manage to see our clients generally no more than three sessions where many others take 8 – 12 sessions.

In fact we took this to Israel where the therapists we taught we taking that long and couldn’t believe change, real change could be so fast, comfortable and lasting ~ and now they do!

So you can see we are and will be continually be striving to create even better ways to utilise in our brand of therapy here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy.

If you are a therapist and want to find out more or when our next weekend Masterclass is being held email info@josephcloughtrainings

Remembering to remember……?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Sometimes, I don’t know if this happens to you, you remember something special you seem to have forgotten that, for no particular reason, when you remember it you can’t work out why or how you could forget to remember something this or that special. (Now I know in those words there seems to be a bit of hypnotic language going on and there is.)

Well this happened to me just the other day.

I was thinking about a friend of mine and how I hadn’t been in touch with recently, which wasn’t the most friendly way to be. Not the thinking but the not being in touch.

At the same time of thinking I was just putting a book away I’d shown at our NLP practitioner training. It’s called the Soul Bird. A book for children but really is a wonderful message for all, especially us adults who forget to remember something special.

So the question I asked myself………………..

who have I forgotten to remember and remembering them, what can I do now to let them know I’m thinking of them……

Enjoy every heart beat

Hypnosis could be the key to unlock your fear

Something I found that might inspire you

Joseph Clough, attended hypnosis classes to get over his shyness.

CONFIDENT and charming, with an easy smile, it’s hard to believe Joseph Clough was once crippled by shyness. “I used to blush very easily,” admits the 25-year-old, with a grin.

“At one point it got so bad I even struggled to talk to my relatives: if they asked me a question, I could manage ‘yes’ or ‘no’ but that was about it.”

Nowadays, Joseph thinks nothing of talking to hundreds of people at a time, all of them complete strangers. A mind coach famous for working with the stars, including Scottish singer Sandi Thom, he leads workshops designed to help people let go of their fears – and live life to the full.

As Joseph explains, he owes a lot to hypnotism: it was a course in hypnosis that changed his life when he was 17.

Swift to confess he “was not the brightest” at school, Joseph says he needed learning support and toiled to get six C grades at GCSE. For a man who now knows “quite a bit of quantum physics”, it’s proof he’s come a long way.

After a GNVQ in business studies, Joseph took a job in insurance. “Within six months I felt lost,” he remembers. “I lacked purpose, contentment, fulfilment . . .”

Encouraged by his father, Paul, the teenager agreed to do a week-long hypnosis course in Scarborough. “Hypnosis was my dad’s hobby at the time,” explains Joseph, who lives off Histon Road. “The idea was that the course would be a therapeutic process, which would help me find out what I wanted to do with my life.”

And that it did: Joseph’s moment of epiphany came almost immediately – on his four-hour drive home. Full of a confidence and a new sense of self-belief, he had put his hang-ups behind him within one short week. And he wanted to help others do the same.

“I decided there and then that I wanted to do this,” he recalls. “The course had been life-changing for me and I knew that I wanted to help other people make beneficial changes to their lives too.”

A week later Joseph had quit his insurance job and embarked on his new career as a Master Hypnotist. Going to the States to study Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), he then began to expand his horizons even further.

“If you had conscious control of your life then it would be easy: you would simply let go of all the fears that hold you back,” explains Joseph. “But we don’t have conscious control of these things – so it might be the unconscious mind that is holding us back.”

By taking his clients into a trance state, which he likens to the auto-pilot mode we switch into when driving, Joseph says he accesses the unconscious.

Asking the unconscious mind to move a client’s finger, while giving the conscious mind a counter-command to keep the finger still, he says people are often amazed to see their digits twitch. “A person has to want to go into a trance state,” adds Joseph, who says hypnosis requires real focus from the client.

For the last two years, Joseph has worked with all manner of celebrity clients, from singers and actors to athletes. Because of client confidentiality, he is unable to identify the majority – save for Sandi Thom, whom he describes as “very down-to-earth and friendly”.

“It started by accident,” explains Joseph. “A manager phoned me up about one of his clients and it just took off from there.”

As with his other clients, Joseph helps the celebs address a huge range of issues, maybe a desire to improve their performance or combat a lack of self-confidence. And he also helps them tackle phobias, fears of everything from small spaces to bony wrists.

“I’ve come across a fear of balloons, a fear of tinfoil and – this is quite a common one – emetophobia, which is a fear of being sick, even of being around sick,” says Joseph.

“One client had a fear of her hair being touched because, as a young child, someone had tried to set light to it. It had become quiet debilitating: she didn’t even like going to pubs because, before the smoking ban, she had a fear of the smoke touching her hair and making it fall out.”

Most phobias date from childhood, he explains. “If you see a spider and feel that ‘fight or flight’ reaction, those two things – the spider and the feeling – become connected,” continues Joseph. “What I do is reconnect the spider with a new feeling, say of calm. It can work quickly: twenty-five per cent of people change with one session.”

With the celebrity clients came an increasing amount of media attention: recently challenged by the Daily Express, Joseph was charged with curing three journalists of their fears – including a woman repulsed at the very thought of a veined and bony wrist.

With innumerable CDs and downloads to his name, several websites and a self-help book called Be Your Potential, Joseph’s career is burgeoning. With his father and older brother Luke now trained Master Hypnotists too, he’s part of the family firm Cambridge Hypnotherapy, as well as making client visits and holding workshops .

But, despite his success, Joseph says he didn’t become a mind coach for the sake of making money. Offering a sliding scale of fees, designed to make his sessions accessible to as many people as possible, he says he genuinely wants to help others live happier lives.

“If someone says this stuff doesn’t exist well, in a way, it doesn’t completely exist: it isn’t tangible,” he adds. “But then neither is the soul.”

Promised testimonial for our NLP/Time Line Therapy/Real Hypnosis Practitioner course

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Having just completed another training both Joseph and I were so pleased to receive the following comments.

We saw a huge change and a great deal of skill along with bucket loads of passion from our delegates. It was really good to see everyone using their newly acquired skills ‘in the muscle’  (not just trying out techniques) and making them their own ~ doing what they knew and knowing what they did – the steps to mastery and not mystery!

“This training REALLY went over my expectations, I believe that every service received should be for the receiver of higher value of the fees paid and the fees paid should be for the provider of the service of higher value of the time spent providing the service.

The notions and skills learnt are MUCH, MUCH more valuable than the fees paid.

The hands on approach made it very easy to learn and put the new abilities into practice right away providing the chance of understanding exactly how to apply the “techniques” .

The trainers were ALWAYS happy to help and answer questions, even after the course ended.

If I had to rate this experience 1-10 it would be a 20! There are no words I can use to describe how satisfied, rewarded and pleased I am.

The best investment I have made in years, this course also made me a better man.

Thank you VERY much Joe and Paul!
