Cambridge Hypnotherapy tips to feel better

I have just been asked to give a few quick tips on ways to carry on the great work one of our clients has made so I thought this would be great to share as they can be used by anyone ~ you don’t need to have been a client.

Use your count down timer on your mobile set to one hour and repeat this throughout the day. When it beeps, stop and notice how you feel right now and then make yourself feel just a little better. Little is the main thing ~ just a little better; you’ll find that easy I know. Just remember to turn it off before bed time!!!???

Whenever you catch yourself asking things like “Why do I……, Why can’t I……..? etc. etc” STOP and ask a better question like:

What would be like to feel X or do X (you choose which is appropriate) and enjoy the process of feeling X or doing X ?”  

and then just let that happen you don’t need to think of the answer.

 

Lastly ( for now anyway)

Before you get up , think of your day ahead and imagine how you want it to be if it were to be exactly how you want it to be. Do this for a few minutes. Then ask yourself this question:

What would it be like to have this day just like this or something even better and enjoy every minute of it?

 Then get up without thinking of an answer because your unconscious mind will create it for you.

 

Repeat the mantra

(Your name) comes first ~ number one

Try them out.

Something special happening at Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Lately I have been overwhelmed, in a good way, in having the opportunity to work with young people, young adults that is. With that I mean 19 – 21 year olds, wanting to get theirself together and doing something about it. It seems to me that it must take a lot of courage to get in touch with a Hypnotherapist, someone that does an ‘ism ~ Hypnotism and then be prepared to do whatever it takes to be the way they want to be!

It’s been really encouraging to watch these young people make great changes in their lives and take responsibility for it themselves, no blaming others or circumstances, and doing things for themselves.

You see, we all see a lot of people in the world blaming their situation on anything or everything but themselves ~ The economic situation, the government, the weather, other people, their bosses, the anything you can think of except themselves. It’s simply the law of cause and effect and if you live on the effect side of life you have and can find any amount of reasons why you can’t do or have something or in other words ~ Excuses, because that’s what they are.

When you live on the cause side of life and take full responsibility for you life you can do anything and change things the way you want them to be, simply because you can!!!

That’s the great thing about watching these young people have the courage and conviction to want to be the best they can be and settle for nothing less. They just didn’t realise they had all they need inside them and just needed our special processes to guide them to access those resources and make those changes. And because they were prepared to do whatever it takes it meant they were able to make the changes they wanted quickly and easily ~ mostly within one or two sessions. The funny thing was, because it was obvious to us that they couldn’t afford to pay our full price, we had to offer them concessionary rates. They didn’t ask for them and didn’t know about them until it came for payment of the session which made it even more rewarding giving them.

Summer is Coming…… lose weight with Cambridge Hypnotherapy

The clearest indication for us at Cambridge Hypnotherapy that summer is on the way here is when our enquiries regarding losing weight with Hypnotherapy increase, as they have done over the past few weeks.

Hypnotherapy is fantastic with helping clients to lose weight LONG TERM, and not just for the short term like many other weight loss plans such as Slimming World, Weight Watchers, and all those other fad diets out there. Make no doubt about it, they will ALL help you lose weight, however that’s always going to be a given when your eating habits are restricted. Think about it, if you were given an eating plan to follow forcing you to eat less, with public weigh ins each week, you have to lose weight, it’s that simple!!!!

My job is not to teach people how to suck eggs, and everyone consciously knows what they should and shouldn’t eat. We can help eradicate the emotional eating, those times when we eat junk because we’re upset, or had a stressful day, or those times when we resort to raiding the cupboards because we’re bored and it’s convenient. We also start to recreate the mind-body connection so that our clients feel full up quicker than previously and therefore are unable to consume too much food, as well as only being able to eat when they are hungry which helps eradicate any snacking on unhealthy foods between meal times.

The other huge added benefit of losing weight with Cambridge Hypnotherapy, is that your weight loss and changes to your eating habits can be PERMANENT! Insomnia is it real ~ Cambridge Hypnotherapy

When people come to see us for help it can be quite hard to understand although the problem they came about almost probably is not the problem.

Now that might not make sense at first reading but think about it ~ most of the things we experience and don’t like are the effects of something else.

 

Here’s an example:

Not sleeping at night ~ “I just want a good night sleep” but that’s not the problem it’s what’s causing you to not sleep is the underlying problem

 

Recently a client had this very problem and was so desperate to sleep because if they had 3 hours sleep that was a good night, it was if they couldn’t shut off their thinking and internal voice which were always planning what to do and not make a mistake.

 

So getting them to unconsciously remember to have a good nights sleep and use it wouldn’t work because the thinking etc was trying to do something very positive ~  to make sure they didn’t let others down and we found out ultimately not to be alone. Therefore a tiny belief of you have to do everything perfectly or others won’t like you and you’ll end up alone was causing real conflict in their life. Even if you can be perfect (an impossibility) they were so physically tired they were always going to under perform!

 

Here’s the thing we found this in the first session and also did a hugely powerful process we have developed. They left with a further appointment in a week’s time.

 

I also got this text message which as always blows me away (I don’t know why but it does every time!)

 

“Hi paul, i dont need next weeks appointment. Ive been sleeping fine since our first session on tuesday! 🙂 thanks so much, its a huge relief. Not totally sure how you did it but it worked a treat!! Please put me on your email circulation list. Thanks so much for the book too. I will send you something for it. Very best regards,”

Sticking to your resolutions with Cambridge Hypnotherapy

So it’s February, and we’re now 5 weeks into the New Year. How many of you made a New Years Resolution such as stopping smoking, losing weight, finding a new job or even starting a new hobby? More importantly, how many of you stuck to it and are STILL doing it?

Yo-Yo Dieting? ~ Cambridge Hyponotherapy’s answer

SO what is it about the Yo-yo effect of dieting?

Why do so many people go on a diet and crash only to find they become heavier than they started and more saddened and unmotivated?

Why do some people fall off the healthy eating and exercise regime and never get to their weight and shape they dream of and long for?

There’s probably one answer to all those at the heart, with a few side issues tagged along.

When we set our new weight goal how many know that the new you will be a different person than the old in so many ways?

Very few is the answer. They seem to think when we reach the goal we can live like we did before. Some even think they can live like they did before during this transition.

Guess what? It will never happen!

The old adage of ‘do what you did before = get what you got before’ is there for a reason.

SO how can we make this change with ease?

Firstly if we understand we will be a different person then we need to let go of the underlying beliefs towards food and exercise that have underpinned the old you, when you do this the changes become exciting and natural and not ‘a regime’ or a hardship or a sacrifice.

Yes we know that this to the conscious and intellectual way of thinking makes complete sense, doing this without knowing how is almost impossible. That’s where someone like us comes in to play, because we do this part for a living ~ it’s second nature to us, it’s what we’re trained to do.

You don’t need fad diets, fad hypno bandy thingies (we’ve written about those before!) simply letting go of negative beliefs and old emotional attachments to food etc with a little tweak to our motivation strategy and away you go.

If for those who need company or assistance after that then you may consider:

  • A personal trainer to start you off gradually where you will see and feel quick improvements
  • A nutritionist to help you prepare your healthy eating life
  • Join one of the diet clubs because now you can with confidence of finishing where you want to be.
  • Get a couple of friends along and plan your own workouts
  • Find out about new and exotic foods that tantalize you taste buds and become a food connoisseur where you savor the taste not the quantity.
  • Plus any other wonderful pursuits your new you can explore….Hmmmmm.

There you go that should be enough to get you thinking in the right way.

Lose weight with Hypnotherapy? Let’s change your mindset about food and watch that happen anyway!!!

2013 is upon us, and no doubt 1000’s of people out there are now starting to plan their new healthy eating diets and joining up with their local gyms in order to lose weight, as this year they’re sure things will be different…..

I admire their initial motivation, and their positive approach to weight loss is wonderful to see, but I really do think that these people are approaching losing weight COMPLETELY wrong. The reason I think this is simple….. FOOD is not the problem, THEY are!! As they think about not eating that rich chocolate cake that’s in the fridge, or those tins of chocolates left over after Christmas, or even all those other goodies they have in the cupboard, one thing is for certain…. they are thinking about food!! Quite simply whatever you focus on you will get, even if you are telling yourself not to do it.

You can try this yourself pretty simply by doing the following… First think about not eating chocolate and notice what happens. I’m sure you are already thinking about the chocolate that you want to not eat, and how good it tastes when you ate it before. Now go ahead and think about eating a nice juicy orange, and notice the pictures you create in your mind. Completely different pictures right? However, when you look at it both outcomes are the same, only one is focusing on what you want to not do, and the other on what you do want to do. Compare this to a Sat Nav…. how often would you ever put in where you don’t want to go to? If you did put in where you wanted to not go to, it would end up taking you there, not good!

Our approach to helping  you lose weight is very straightforward and easy. We simply help you change what food means to you, and start to get your mind focusing on what you do want to eat, how much you want to exercise, and what you want to look like, not what you don’t want to look like.

tips to stop smoking from Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Tips to help you stop smoking.

Whilst we know hypnosis and hypnotherapy claim a great success rate helping smokers to be non-smokers.

And

We, here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy, believe we have developed even better ways and processes using our experience of hypnosis and NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) we also understand this is not for everyone. Although it is far easier with us than going cold turkey we thought we would give a few pointers for those wanting to do it by themselves.

First of all the main reason we lose our will power or resolve is because when we stop smoking without planning properly most smokers begin to try to behave just the same as before not utilising a different behaviour in it’s place.

Some start drinking more alcohol, others eat more or keep picking at food between meals and some just get lethargic and watch TV more.

The result of all this is more weight and sluggishness ending going back to the dreaded weed!

Why does this happen? It’s because we have acknowledged what smoking was doing for us, such as taking us away from stress or boredom.  If we don’t re[place smoking with a new set of behaviours that also deal with what smoking was doing for us them we are doomed to failure.

So if you want to try and stop by yourself here’s a few tips:

·                  Pick a date suitably in the future when you will stop.

·                  Think about when you smoke what is smoking doing for you and write them down

·                  Think about necan rightly w ways you can achieve the same thing for you and write  them down

·                  Make notes on what you can do that’s really different and that you can’t smoke at the same time and prepare to them.

·                  On the evening before the set day really concentrate on smoking and realise it’s just a silly behaviour and that you know far better ways. After your last smoke ceremoniously crush and throw away the packet.

·                  When you wake up have a nice shower and put on some nice, clean comfortable clothes.

·                  Give yourself credit and praise every hour for doing so well.

So you can go this way if you like, some do and get great results but a lot fail with all good intentions because the thing is it’s our unconscious mind that runs the smoking behaviour and changing consciously is very hard.

Don’t stop smoking for Christmas!

Some people think it would be great to stop and quit smoking over the Christmas period.

But think about it seriously…. Yes, absolutely stop smoking and stop when you are at your best and can prepare for it properly.

You see you smoke for a reason, it’s not addictive, it’s a behaviour you do for a positive reason / intention and if you just go ahead at one of the most stressful times of the year your heading for disappointment.

“So what can I do?” or “well how do I stop?” we can hear you thinking to yourselves.

You plan it and you make sure you put other things in place that really honour your reason / intention for smoking.

“But I don’t know why I smoke I  just do!” …. Exactly and that’s why you should:

Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy in Cambridge ~ can I be hypnotised?

We here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy always work with the intention our clients take full responsibility over their issues and also be responsible for their change and success. We (Luke, Joseph & myself) are purely the facilitators of that change ~ we have just developed processes and ways to use Hypnosis and NLP etc that enable our clients to change quickly and easily.

We take responsibility for being able to facilitate the change and on the extremely rare occasions our clients are unable to make the change they desire it is us not being able to help them not that they are “unhypnotizable” (if that’s actually a word) or able to make the change.

It’s when we hear of clients being told by other therapists that it’s they who are a bad client, cannot be hypnotized we shudder in disbelief.

Here’s an exert of a recent email we received:

“I did see a hypnotherapist a few years back to help me with my depression, she tried to take me back to a place in my childhood where she believed everything changed, after three sessions she told me that I was not able to be hypnotised and it was probably because whatever it was was too hard for even my subconscious to bring up, Im not convinced anything really bad happened to me as a child”

Needless to say we do not work in any, shape or form work like that or speak to our clients in such a way

here is part of our reply:

“As for your previous work, we work in a COMPLETELY different approach and
don’t believe everything goes back to childhood. It sounds very much like an
approach which personally we don’t agree with.

We, unlike many, Specialise in Brief Therapy and Lasting Change. With our
passion using NLP, Time Line Therapy, together with Hypnosis we assist in
helping people who really want to change in a comfortable way.

It is difficult to guess the number of sessions you may need, we believe
this should always remain your choice and the fewer the better is our belief
(normally 2-3 sessions).Many clients have achieved their goals even quicker!
We can explain all at an initial consultation.”

We believe (and also teach in our Trainings) that every client is unique and has all the resources they need to make the change they desire.

We also believe we are probably the best at facilitating quick, easy, comfortable and lasting change.
