Have you stuck to your new years resolution?

Friday, January 31st, 2014

How Hypnotherapy can kick your new resolutions back into action!

So we are nearly at the end of January, 31 days into 2014 and I’m keen to find out how many of you that made a new years resolution are still going strong?

According to research, 9 days in is the average date that people will give up and return to their old life. In fact, three-quarters of 3,000 British adults surveyed admitted they were no longer confident they would stick to their promises for the rest of the month. Were you one of those people?

Here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy we are starting to see an increase in enquiries from clients looking to lose weight, stop smoking or cut down their alcohol consumption with Hypnotherapy. In addition to these are the clients who are looking to boost their confidence levels and let go of their anxiety. They thought they would try and ‘just get on with it’ themselves, only to find that they are still in the same place as 2013!

If this is something that you can relate to , please click here or call us on 01223 720 120 to arrange a complimentary initial consultation. Here we can explain to you in more detail about exactly what Hypnotherapy is, and how you can achieve your results in only 2-3 sessions.

Cambridge Hypnotherapy are one of the few full time Hypnotherapist centres around, and we tailor our work to you as an individual so you can be sure you’re going to get your results. We are all Master Practitioners of Hypnosis, TimeLine therapy and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming).

I look forward to hearing from you.

Helping relationships over Christmas with Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Tuesday, November 26th, 2013

Following on from Luke’s latest Cambridge Hypnotherapy Blog posting about anxiety experienced at Christmas I think it would be good to have a look at why this anxiety comes about in families at this time of year.

Now it could just the drink talking and unfortunately this can be a big issue for some. Alcohol flows so much freer at this festive time ~ freer and usually earlier and for longer. It’s a recipe for trouble and usually brings the worst out of everybody. This calls for reconciliation and maybe dealing with possible drink related problems and addictions. To us that’s not a big problem to resolve it’s just a problem that gets bigger and uglier if you don’t resolve it

But even more than the drink, usually problems occur because we’re just not use to spending so much time with each other. Now spending time with loved ones should be something to treasure. But if this extended time together brings up problems in our relationship that are usually buried by you being at work, shopping, cleaning and all the usual stuff then it’s a signal to you something needs addressing.

Imagine having dealt with these relationship problems how wonderful would life be? How special would time be, spent with your love one, family and friends?

Why don’t we do something about it?

Here’s one reason:

You don’t realise you can do anything about it or you don’t realise with just a little effort and help from us you can make your life and the lives of others in your life awesome! You just have to want it!

Why would you commit your life to someone and not have your life improve because of that commitment? With just a little effort every relationship can grow better and better. This is specifically why we have a web site totally dedicated to improving every type of relationship called quite simply Improvingyourrelationships.co.uk.

Have a look if you’re interested in enjoying every part of your relationships, be they with family, friends and that special person in your life right now.

Either way you may only have one life to live or many live depending on your beliefs ~ either way you owe it to yourself to enjoy them all to the full and not have regrets such as “if only………”

How to get results in 2-3 sessions with Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Friday, November 1st, 2013

Joseph and I (Paul) have just finished 2 back to back 8 day intensive trainings in both Cambridge & Bournemouth,  teaching NLP, Time Line Therapy™ and Real Hypnosis. For those that don’t know why anyone would want to learn these skills well there’s generally three reasons.

1 For Personal development

2 To thrive in business

3 To become a therapist and help others

The fact is, generally our participants get all three in abundance

It was great to see everyone pass with flying colours and get their certification as Practitioners in NLP, Time Line Therapy™ and as a Master Hypnotist.

The thing I enjoyed most was to firstly watch the delegates sit quietly on that very first morning of the training, probably thinking “what have I done?” to see them grow in confidence and ability far beyond their dreams.

Secondly to have them fully take on board that the things that clients come in with, of the things they themselves wanted to change were not the problem.

What do I mean?

Well Here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy both Luke and I know that the presenting problem is very rarely the problem. Like the metaphor of the weed it’s only a leaf and if you cut it out the weed will only continue to grow more leaves or problems in your life.

And this is where I think we excel better than most therapists because we take time to find the root cause of our client’s issues and then and only then work on that. When the ‘root’ cause disappears then all the presenting problems disappear.

That’s how we literally only require 2-3 sessions to assist our clients to get the change they want in their life and a whole lot more!. In fact you could probably count the clients that needed more than three sessions on the fingers of one hand.

What we don’t tell is what we do at our Complimentary initial consultation and between the sessions that really makes the difference or the processes that we use and have developed ~ that’s our secret of success with clients.

If you want to know more then all you have to do is

Hypnosis for fear of flying – Cambridge Hypnotherapy for phobias

Monday, October 14th, 2013

Recently I read an article in the national newspapers highlighting a story about a young boy of 12 years old who had developed a phobia of flying and now been stranded in the Middle East for more than one year. Eventually, with the aid of Hypnotherapy, he managed to overcome his fear and fly back with his Father to meet up with his Mother and Sister who had already returned to the UK.

Fear of flying is one of the more common phobias that we work with here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy, however we have worked with pretty much any phobia that you can think of including fear of spiders, fear of heights, fear of needles, fear of dogs, fear of driving and even the fear of shirt buttons among many many more.

The Father in this particular case thought that his Sons phobia had been bought on by an ear infection that bought with it terrible pain and discomfort, and this type of situation is very common. Quite often the phobia is not actually caused by anything bad happening with that particular thing, such as flying issues, but more so by something else which makes it simply a horrible experience, such as the ear infection. The next time that individual gets ready to do that thing again, their unconscious mind remembers what happened last time and how emotionally unpleasant it was, thus creating so much fear that they simply don’t go ahead with doing it! If you don’t do it, it can’t be horrible, right?…. WRONG!!!! By not doing what we want to enjoy doing, it feels pretty horrible in itself!

So how long does it take to let go of a phobia? Well certainly not 12 months! Once someone has decided that the time is right t0 let go of it, it takes no more than 3 sessions. Many of our clients actually achieve their results in less than this!

If you have a fear or phobia that you feel has been affecting your life and would like to find out just how easy it is to let go of your phobia with Cambridge Hypnotherapy, you can contact us here, or call us on 01223 720 120 and we will be more than happy to discuss it with you. You will also receive 2 free downloads, and are welcome to come and visit us for a free initial consultation where you can find out more.

Stoptober….. or StopForever with Cambridge Hypnotherapy to stop smoking

Monday, September 30th, 2013

So once again Stoptober is here, and the government are trying to push helping smokers become a non smoker for 28 days. Although this is obviously a great initiative, I do find it flawed in many aspects!

Firstly, why stop for 28 days? Why not stop smoking FOREVER? If people stop smoking for 28 days they are apparently 5 times more likely to stop smoking permanantly. I would counter that with 100% of those who do stop forever, actually have stopped forever? Strange, eh 😉

The problem I have with setting a 28 day target, is that for many people they are instantly counting down to when they can have that lovely cigarette again, and that is all that goes around in their mind. Every day they get closer to that 28th day, their desire for it gets bigger and bigger. Similar to people who go on a crash diet for a holiday or a wedding, as soon as its over their gorge on takeaways and chocolate and snacks, as those ‘treats’ have recently been forbidden. When Christmas is coming, we all get more and more excited about it as the day nears, and unfortunately I do find Stoptober can create this sort of excitement about smoking again, not for everyone mind, but for a large portion of people that do it.

So what happens when you decide to be a non smoker forever? Well your aim has instantly shifted to remaining a non smoker, not to when you can smoke again. We have designed a fantastic smoking cessation session package that can make stopping smoking the easiest decision you have ever made. We will be working on exactly what I just said, boosting your incentive to remain a non smoker. By the time you walk into our therapy room here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy to stop smoking, you will in fact have already stopped smoking and your unconscious mind will be onside, ready to learn everything it needs to learn to enable you to stay that way regardless of anything that may happen in your future.

Stopping smoking with Cambridge Hypnotherapy is not a long winded affair, it is in fact ONLY one session.

Finding out just how easy it can be is simply, you just need to email us here, or call us on 01223 720 120.

I await your call 🙂

Hypnobirthing in Cambridge – with Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Monday, September 30th, 2013

Recently my wife and I were lucky enough to be blessed with the birth of our first son. It was a truly magical experience, and something that will stay with me forever.

I thought I’d write a bit here about the process as my wife has now had first hand experience of using Hypnotherapy for birthing, something which has become known as Hypnobirthing. As a full time Hypnotherapist in Cambridge, I guess my skills were always going to be called into action on this one!

I had recently devised a 3 session plan on how Hypnotherapy could be used successfully not only for the actual event of labour itself, but also the build up before the big day, as well as the days, weeks and months following the birth of your child.

The build up to giving birth can be a very stressful and anxious time. From Ante Natal classes, to working out what to buy and the idea of labour itself, they can all cause a degree of anxiety and even panic within a pregnant women who will already no doubt be suffering from all sorts of emotional and hormonal changes. This level of anxiety can be exhausting and lead to issues when it comes to the actual labour itself.

The labour is the next part that our work will cover. The actual physical exertion of pushing a baby out can obviously be a very painful experience, and the that pain can cause panic and fear and in turn actually make the whole experience longer and more painful. After Hypnobirthing with us here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy, you will find the while process strangely relaxing and quick…. My wife gave birth 3 hours after entering Hospital, and said that the process has far from put her off doing it again as many say it has.

The third section of our work is ensuring that none of our clients suffer from post natal depression. Being left with a tiny baby to look after can be a very daunting experience and not being able to communicate and understand what a baby is crying for can cause all sorts of emotions including fear, upset, depression, and a feeling of not being good enough to do things right.

We will soon be launching a dedicated website to Hypnobirthing in Cambridge, and I will update you more in the near future.

Until then, if you have any questions on how Cambridge Hypnotherapy can help you with your birthing process, please feel free to call us on 01223 720 120, or contact us here now.

I look forward to hearing from you.

working as a hypnotherapist in cambridge

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013

I’ve now been a Hypnotherapist in Cambridge for over 6 years. My background has always been Sport and Psychology, going all the way back to when I was at College and studied the 2 subjects at A-Level. Luckily, with the P.E syllabus there was a section on Sports Psychology, and also within the Psychology Syllabus there was a section on Sports Psychology.

Having left College, I decided to train and become qualified as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer having trained in a gym from the age of 16. I became fascinated with how some people could motivate themselves to train on their own, yet others needed someone else to push them. There is also the strange way that people can be very motivated to train on January, yet come April they rarely visit  the gym at all!

The only problem I had with working a gym was job satisfaction. Yes I was helping people become fitter, but I personally was not overly enjoying going to work every day and knew something needed to change.

As it happened my brother and father were about to run a Practitioner course, training people to become a qualified practitioner of NLP, TimeLine Therapy and Hypnosis so I jumped at the chance of enrolling and taking part. Something just clicked during the course, and I realised that this was something that would allow me to help others in a much more satisfying way.

In the following days after successfully completing the course, I saw my first client at Cambridge Hypnotherapy, and have been a full time Hypnotherapist in Cambridge ever since.

Is there something that you want to change? If so, what;’s stopping you!!!

Cambridge Hypnotherapy tips to feel better

Thursday, September 19th, 2013

I have just been asked to give a few quick tips on ways to carry on the great work one of our clients has made so I thought this would be great to share as they can be used by anyone ~ you don’t need to have been a client.

Use your count down timer on your mobile set to one hour and repeat this throughout the day. When it beeps, stop and notice how you feel right now and then make yourself feel just a little better. Little is the main thing ~ just a little better; you’ll find that easy I know. Just remember to turn it off before bed time!!!???

Whenever you catch yourself asking things like “Why do I……, Why can’t I……..? etc. etc” STOP and ask a better question like:

What would be like to feel X or do X (you choose which is appropriate) and enjoy the process of feeling X or doing X ?”

and then just let that happen you don’t need to think of the answer.

Lastly ( for now anyway)

Before you get up , think of your day ahead and imagine how you want it to be if it were to be exactly how you want it to be. Do this for a few minutes. Then ask yourself this question:

What would it be like to have this day just like this or something even better and enjoy every minute of it?

Then get up without thinking of an answer because your unconscious mind will create it for you.

Repeat the mantra

(Your name) comes first ~ number one

Try them out.

These are things everyone can do and remember if you do have issues that are holding you back from enjoying this life of yours you owe it to yourself to let them go and create the change inside of you to have the life you want and dream of. You can do this with a little help from us~ LUKE & PAUL of Cambridge Hypnotherapy

~ so call us today on 01223 720 120 to arrange a 20 minute complimentary consultation to find out how can help you.

A new wave of blogs are coming from here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy!!!

Monday, June 3rd, 2013

Every week here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy we receive numerous enquiries that seem to centre around a certain theme that is current in the news or media. When we watch or read about a particular situation in the news, or watch something happen in our favourite TV programme it be very easy to relate it to our own personal lives and allow it to stir up a wide range of emotions from regret, guilt, fear or even simply sadness or happiness.

We have decided to focus upon this and start to write a regular weekly blog on whatever we feel is a topical event, allowing all of you that read this to realise just how easy it can be to disconnect and not let it bother you anymore.

Whether it’s reading or hearing about sexual abuse cases that stir up old buried memories, watching TV characters on EastEnders battle with drink or drug addictions, certain storylines in Coronation Street dealing with domestic abuse both mental and physical,  OCD behaviours on programmes such as Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners, or even focusing on eating disorders such as obesity and anorexia on episodes of Supersize vs Superskinny, we will be writing about it!

If you feel that any of our articles have helped you, please feel free to share them around and if you find that you relate to them in any way, and would like to learn how we as Hypnotherapists in Cambridge can help you let go of these issues in only 2-3 sessions, then please feel free to contact us here, or on 01223 720 120 to arrange a FREE initial consultation

Have a great day!
