Little steps to a full life of achievement

We’ve noticed lately that so many people when trying to either reach a goal or make changes in their life, with the best of intentions, go about it in a way that almost always ends up in failure!

What a great shame when we see what we want in life, read about it and dream of having it only to be another “I wish” or even worse “If only I’d persisted a little more”

There’s a sure fire way to stop this happening and it’s the same process we teach my clients here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy when they leave to really test our work together.

Before we get to this small but powerful and successful way let’s just take a moment to set the scene for both scenarios.

Achieving your goals ~ We are told in many books and such things as the Law of Attraction etc. to set our goals big and I mean BIG! And I agree whole heartily in this too. We live in our ‘adult Heads’ all day and are prepared to settle for something less than we deserve.

However, if we were to adopt a child’s imagination where anything and everything is possible we dream both Big and also with total freedom and acceptance -That’s the real magic of a dream!! When we do this we can literally feel what it will be like to achieve the dream that’s now a goal.

We can then, if we know the steps, can now work backwards, That’s right backwards, and work out what needs to happen just before achieving our goal and then the step before that and then the step before that and then….. well you get the picture.

But if we don’t know the steps does that mean the goal is unachievable? ~ absolutely

~ NOT!

But so many think so, which means they don’t even begin or think of the largest first step and get scared or have a feeling of failure and give up, re-enforcing their old negative beliefs around failure and not being good enough and any other number of limiting negative beliefs you can think of now.

Testing our change work ~ We’ve noticed and been told of great change work being done in the office but in testing in the real world the client either picked a test way too big for a first test or got so anxious of the same sort of extreme thing to do they just gave up and again reinforced their previous old belief that was so nearly a thing of the past and just needed a gentle push away.

The PROCESS ~

In the paragraph above a mentioned ‘just a gentle push away’ and that’s the essence of the process. Being GENTLE with ourselves.

In both achieving our goals, which we now will call outcomes, and ratifying consciously the great changes you made in a therapy session the process is exactly the same and it is sooooooooo simple!!

In imagining the biggest outcome we desire we get to know what that will feel like when we get it – so simply hold that feeling.

Following our session my clients know what the feeling is they will have to succeed being their true selves so they are simple asked to remember and hold that feeling.

Then………

As you think of what to do, either towards your outcome or test of the change work, you simply hold that feeling and think or ask yourself for the smallest step towards the outcome you can make and still have this feeling and then just do it.

If you think of a step and that feeling is less intense or disappears it just means the step is too big, that’s all! So simply return to that feeling you will feel and think or ask for a smaller step that still retains that feeling for you and do that instead.

You will notice at first the steps will be minute and that’s absolutely correct but the thing is you will soon be leaping forward and always with that feeling which will lead you to your outcome and more.

Rescover is Here

Wohoo! As of Tuesday, Rescover is now available in the App Store

If you don’t know already, Rescover lets you discover things you love, and reminds you when and where they come out.

You can follow TV Shows, Movies, Music, Games, Books etc. Rescover will then keep you in the loop with official release dates, descriptions, trailers and most importantly – remind you when it comes out.

We’re really happy with what we put together and we have lots of ideas for how to make it even better. We’re going to be working on those over the coming weeks.

Our main focuses now are 1/ get people to download it 2/ talk to them and get feedback 3/ make it better. Repeat ;-)

It’s starting to sink in that building the first version was the easy bit (well easier bit). Getting people to download it and like it is where the real work comes in!

Learn How to be happy with Cambridge Hypnotherapy

We (Luke, Paul & Joseph AKA Cambridge Hypnotherapy) have been helping clients, people just like you, to change the way you feel ~ from something uncomfortable and in some cases really bad to ways they enjoy. Some even say thier old self but even better!!

Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy and NLP are great ways to change your state, the way you feel. The thing is that we use the natural ways we do this but in a good way. Too often we can be ok and in a moment something happens which we’re not consciously aware of and our mood (state) changes. Well if this can happen in a negative way the good news is we can use the same process to go from negative to positive feelings. Before you do that…………………

Have you ever seen lists of how to be this or do that or improve this in your life?

Well, I’ve just spent a little time on the internet reading such things as…101 ways to be happy, 40 ways to be happy 6 ways to be happy and the list went on and on!

Wow and the thing is whilst being right in a way that is giving advice of where and how to find happiness in the world I got the impression they were all forgetting one thing.

One thing Paul what’s that?
The one thing that appeared to be missing was to me the most important ~ shall I tell you now or later?
Well all these ways we telling people to do this and do that to experience happiness (Oh by the way this means I’ll tell you later) Yes you can go do these things but if you’re not feeling happy right now will you I doubt it. If you’re feeling low, down or depressed I know you won’t because it’s hard to imagine taking all that effort.

Now you may be thinking right now where’s this going? If all these articles are missing something what is it?

Now here’s the thing
You can go anywhere and everywhere to try to find happiness but the thing is you will only find it in one place. Looking for it outside isn’t where it is.

Where is happiness? True happiness?
It’s with you all the time, it’s in you and has been since you were created! And when you feel it on the inside, everything on the outside changes and so does everyone around you. It’s infectious the best virus in the world. Here’s a quick example of that virus ~ A simple happy smile cannot not make someone smile too and every smile as happy feelings. It’s that simple to start.

If you want to go further you may want to do this. (you will have to read this first and remember what to do)
• Close your eyes
• Breathe gently and ask inside with your inner voice “What’s made me feel happy in the past, one specific time?” and you will remember a time in your mind.
• Jump back into that memory, into your body in that memory and see what you saw and hear what you heard and FEEL the FEELINGS NOW.
• Double the feeling and double them again and smile on the inside and outside too.
• Do this again a couple of times maybe with a different memory and always finish with a smile on the most intense happy feelings.

Now to test:
Clear you mind and think of anything different your phone number backwards for example
Then
SMILE ~ Smile just like you did and…………………………………
Notice how you feel now.

Unfortunately you are now anchored in (something we teach in our NLP trainings)
Every time you smile you’re going to feel this intense happy feeling (what a shame) and you may just create happy feelings in everyone you smile at too.

Stoptober is nearly upon us!

So it’s coming up to that time of year again, Stoptober! A month where smokers decide to stop smoking for 28 consecutive days, with the aim of staying a non smoker at the end of the challenge!

Apparently the Stoptober national campaign claims that if you stop smoking for a period of 28 days then you are 5 times more likely to remain a non smoker than someone who decides to just quit. Personally I think we would all have to agree that if you stopped doing something, or for that matter even started doing something for 4 weeks then you would find it easier to maintain this new behaviour than if you stuck to it for just a few days. For example, someone that simply stopped going to the pub on their way home from work every day for a month would start to not even think about stopping off… their new routine would simply be get in the car, arrive home. I know that when I have wanted to start hitting the gym more regularly, once I have been training and stuck to my plan for a few weeks then this becomes my new habit/routine and I start to feel bad, disappointed, and even annoyed/angry if I have to miss a workout for whatever reason.

Because of these factors, I think Stoptober CAN be a good programme, but only if used in the right way. For those that want to see it as a way to make it easier to stay a non smoker then GREAT, do it and I wish you every bit of success with it. However, where it falls down in my eyes is for those that see it as a challenge knowing that in 28 days they will be able to start smoking again. I think we all know of someone who has fasted before or stuck to an 8 week bootcamp/diet routine, and they are counting down the days until they can eat a nice big bar of chocolate again. Those people are the ones that I feel will be taking the Stoptober challenge each year, whereas in theory you should only ever need to take this challenge ONCE in your life!

So, lets say no to Stoptober but yes to StopForever, seems like a much better plan of action to me 🙂

Hypnotherapy and Sports Psychology

Over the past couple of years we at Cambridge Hypnotherapy developed a sister site called Cambridge Sports Psychology. We were getting lots of enquiries from sportsmen and women who knew that they were not achieving their potential and that their results were not being equalled by their talent and ability.

We have worked with pretty much any sport that you could think of including rugby, football, boxing, mma, showjumping, golf, shooting, snooker, archery, motocross and many many more. We have used our set of skills with clients ranging from hobbyists all the way through to professional and international sportspeople.

When it comes to performing, you can have all the talent in the world…. if you don’t have the correct mindset then the chances are high that you will never achieve the success that you are deserving of. There are countless examples of professional sportspeople who are some of, if not the very best in their field. However there are times in their careers that they simply cannot bring all of their skills and talents into play, including the following examples:

Stop Smoking in only ONE session

Hypnotherapy in Cambridge to stop smoking

At Cambridge Hypnotherapy we have devised a fantastic session plan over the past few years that helps our clients quit smoking in only ONE session! We have literally worked it on hundreds of clients and this has helped us to offer it with a free back up session as we are that confident ! Using NLP and Hypnosis, we can start to reprogram what smoking and cigarettes mean to you.

You will no longer see them as a way to relieve that stressful day at work, or as a way to escape that boredom when you’re sat at home with not much to do. You won’t even be using the reason that it helps you socialise with your friends as an excuse as to why you smoke anymore. After our session, your unconscious mind will see that in fact cigarettes are stressing you out physically and even emotionally, that sitting around smoking is actually boring you and stopping you from doing something that you would enjoy doing, and that you can still even be in the same environments as before with friends etc without the need to smoke.

Hypnobirthing in Cambridge site soon to go live…..

Hypnobirthing in Cambridge site is soon to go live!

Over the next few weeks we’ll be putting the finishing touches to our new website offering a fantastic service known as hypnobirthing, called Hypnobirthing in Cambridge.

Hypnobirthing in its main form is a way to help expectant mothers give birth to their child in a more comfortable way by teaching them breathing techniques etc. This can obviously have a very positive influence on people, however I had one particular concern with it, as i do with all coping strategies. The problem with them is that if you are learning a coping strategy, then surely that implies you still have a problem that you having to cope with?

Our system takes it a step further and more advanced than this. We allow you to change on an unconscious level so that instead of having to breath deeply etc to deal with the panic and anxiety, your mind automatically thinks completely different about the event. This means that instead of having to put effort in to deal with the fear, it simply doesn’t manifest in the first place.

We use advanced and refined techniques within NLP, deep levels of hypnosis as well as Time Line Therapy to allow you to make these changes in as short a time as possible. Our plan consists of only 3 sessions. These will deal with the following areas:

  • Prenatal: Letting go of any of the anxiety about what lies ahead, feeling positive and being able to enjoy your pregnancy
  • The birth: Allowing you to experience a comfortable pain free birthing experience in as short a time as possible
  • Postnatal: Enjoying your new arrival, letting go of the anxiety about whether they and you are doing everything ok, and allowing your body to heal quickly.

New projects on the way!!!

Hypnobirthing and guaranteed Weight Loss on the way!

At Cambridge Hypnotherapy we have been busy over the past few months designing some amazing new packages to offer.

The first is a guaranteed weight loss plan… that’s right, if you follow our plan you’re guaranteed to lose weight. It will have everything you need in one simple package. Firstly, you will be given a set of workouts to do which you can do in your own living room needing nothing but your own bodyweight. Secondly, you will be provided with a nutrition plan to follow which will give your body all the nutrients needed whilst still allowing you to lose weight. Thirdly, you will receive a set of Hypnosis CD’s that will allow your relationship with food to change, provide you with all the motivation you need to stick to this plan and make sure that your journey to a slimmer you is as easy as it can be.

The second thing we have been working on is our approach to Hypnobirthing. I personally used our system with my wife 6 months ago and she had a fantastic experience. The labour was short and she managed the delivery drug free and enjoyed the whole experience. We have designed our 3 session approach covering the 3 main areas:

  1. Pre Natal – dealing with the anxieties that you may be experiencing at the very thought of what labour will feel like.
  2. Giving birth – Allowing you unconscious mind to deal with the pain and worry in a way that will allow your birthing experience to be relaxing.
  3. Post Natal – Allowing you to enjoy this wonderful new experience of having a child without the anxiety about whether they are doing ok etc.

We will have 2 new designated websites up for these and they should both be up by the end of April 2014.

How Hypnotherapy can kick your new resolutions back into action!

So we are nearly at the end of January, 31 days into 2014 and I’m keen to find out how many of you that made a new years resolution are still going strong?

According to research, 9 days in is the average date that people will give up and return to their old life. In fact, three-quarters of 3,000 British adults surveyed admitted they were no longer confident they would stick to their promises for the rest of the month. Were you one of those people?
