Our Hypnotherapy in Cambridge ~ So why do we do this stuff?

Saturday, November 12th, 2011

Hypnosis, hypnotism ~ So why do we do this stuff?

This thing , which some people say doesn’t exist and others hold in mystery (if only they knew !).

Here’s the answer on the form of another question(s).

Why would two young men, 18 and 24 year old respectively, decide to enter into the world of helping people and in affect totally risk their livelihoods? Changing steady careers to one of uncertainty.

Why would someone highly experienced and respected in business say no to that life and change direction completely towards caring for people?

Why?

Because the answer to all the above must be PASSION. Having a passion for what we do and getting the best buzz life can give you when you see someone change, let go of old ‘stuff’ like depression which has held them back for years or overcoming low self esteem such as “I’m not good enough, deserving enough etc. etc. There are few things in life that gives you that feeling and we get to experience with our clients.

And the best thing is the passion is growing.

Sorry the answer is so short ~ but it is sweet.

Releasing anger ~ Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

This article was written a little while ago for the Time Line Therapy Association about one of my clients and their most brilliant change in their life and showed how wonderful the effects of Time Line Therapy ™ are.

And because it was such a big experience we thought we should put in on our blog as well

Before we worked on this issue I was put to the test to see how good a hypnotist I was. To stop this client smoking in one session. I wouldn’t normally do therapy this way around ~ I would usually deal with issues and then the smoking but this client wasn’t having any of it.

This clients opening sentence to me was:

My Anger is Killing me.”

From the very first moment of learning Time Line Therapy(tm) I knew it worked. It just did. It worked with letting go of my negative emotions on the trainings and wth those I did the exercises with.

But then something happens to test this belief and it did with me, BIG time!
My client came into his session and during the personal history the full extent of his problem was presented to me with the words “If I don’t get help I will die ~ That’s what my doctor has told me so I’ve come to you” Wow.

His Doctor knew there was nothing physically wrong but the effects were physical. Our client was losing weight by the day  and dangerously so. This was also causing deterioration in his organs, blood pressure was above high and blood tests showed other malfunctions. On a personal level this man used to have his daughter and son living with him but that had now all changed. His son had left home and no longer wanted more than brief contact and his daughter, now married and recently a mother did not want any contact with her father or her child with her Grandfather.
What was at the root of this diagnosis – Anger but anger in the extreme.
How was this a problem was a question I didn’t need to ask.
How long have you had this problem ~ 11 years.

I asked “How do you do this problem? ” ~ I think about it every minute of my waking day and sometimes in my dreams when I eventually do get to sleep. I argue with this person in my head. I shout and scream in my head. It gets so loud I have to put on earphones and a CD player at full volume to drown out the noise, it’s constant.

I wanted to know as little content as possible but this client wanted me to know a little so I could understand him better.

This is what he told me:
“Briefly I am so angry with my wife and have been for 11 years, I’ve told you how it has affected my relationships with my son and daughter and that only fans the flames of this anger. I’ve told you how it has and is affecting my health to the point where I am killing myself. That makes me SO angry as well and I can’t stop it – The problem is my wife died 12 years ago and a year after her death I found out something about what she did behind my back with someone else so I’ll never be able to find out………………..”
As always, as I was taught and how I teach in my trainings, I simply follow the scripts which are deep inside me now I can say them unconsciously from memory.
We established where his time line was and a simple test flight which being so far away from what he had been talking about was done with ease.

I love to show the diagrams of the process which really pre-teaches the unconscious mind what to do and what will happen and when the emotion will disappear along with a little re-framing of how anger and negative emotions do not protect and are against the prime directive of the unconscious mind. All was going well.
What really began to blow him away was that finding the root cause was not 11 years ago but at such an early age.
Now for Time Line Therapy(tm) and ten minutes of time.

IT’S GONE! What? how? where? …………….”

After testing, still gone but the real test was to be outside, in the real world.
I had tried to make contact but could never get through just voice mail so I didn’t know what to think.
Then whilst I was out one day  a second appointment was made for me with this client. Why a second appointment? So maybe I hadn’t got the result we wanted, my belief was really being tested. All I could do is wait.

So there I am waiting for my client and in he comes.
“why are you here?” I ask
Well I just wanted to tell you what happened since we last met and felt it only right to make an appointment. Here is how I am now:
The anger I felt is gone I still can’t get it.
My doctor tells me my tests are now showing a dramatic improvement and is left wondering what happened and my weight is returning to what it should be.
Oh I’ve stopped smoking – don’t need them any more.
But more importantly to me my son has returned home to live with me.
Oh I nearly forgot I’m away this weekend to stay with my daughter and her new family and I am now part of the christening plans for my Granddaughter
Thank you

Isn’t great to be part of that, the buz you get and reaffirming why we do what we do.
Does Time line work? I wouldn’t and couldn’t use it or teach it if it didn’t.

Am I congruent when I talk about time line ~ You guess!

Exciting times here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy.

I (Paul) am now involved in helping create a brand new hypnotherapy clinic and Therapy Centre “The Waterside” all the way down in Bournemouth. Taking all the ways we have learned and specially developed in helping people change or let go of issues really quickly and comfortably to a place 200 meters from the cliff side.

Luke continues here in Cambridge and it’s great to see the changes he is being involved with in our clients. When I’m here every day that sometimes is missed by me and taken for granted in our busy day.

I’ll be working both here and there so our contact details will always remain the same and if on the days I’m not here Luke will make arrangement for me. (how lucky am I?!) 01223 720 120

Coping and Dealing with Grief ~ Now the cost of a good Magazine!

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

I have been thinking for a little while now having been in the company of people suffering from grief in some form or another. From the death of a loved one, broken marriages and relationships to loss of being able to find themselves.

Grief comes to us for many reasons and many different issues and it doesn’t matter if others think them silly or simply we should just get on with it, it is felt deeply by those who suffer.

And suffer is what we do which is the thing we need not do!

Remember ~ Yes,

Be Grateful ~ Yes

Live our lives fully and with passion ~ Yes

So I’ve decided to reduce the price of my Ebook and accompanying hypnosis downloads to £5.00. Not as a sale or for the short term but to cover costs ~ and that’s it

Chasing Shadows and healing them.

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

I’ve been reading an interesting book about dealing with Shadows ~ those within us.

It has an interesting take on using the energies of these internal shadows, when
they reveal themselves to us, to produce something positive. Put the energy
into things we enjoy and especially those of a creative nature. I know this has
worked tremendously well for the writer of this book.

Sometimes these negative feelings can be so overwhelming and when coupled with a negative
belief can be dis-empowering leading to anxiety at best and depression .

Whilst I love the authors way of using this energy
I also think that with a little skill (things we have developed here at
Cambridge Hypnotherapy can get this part (that particular shadow) of our
unconscious mind to work with us and use its energy at an unconscious level to
produce fantastic results for us.

In this way we can never be overwhelmed by the negative feelings. It’s really a
matter of understanding every behaviour has a positive intention and when that
part (shadow) realises what it is doing is totally in conflict with its
intention it has to let go of the negativity and commit to the better,
congruous way.

I think when we do this at a deep unconscious level, through hypnosis
incorporating NLP when we resolve one issue we notice other areas of our life
changing positively too. It always amazes me how far the ripples of change
spread even to the extent of positively affecting other people in our lives.

And ………………

when we begin to radiate positive thoughts and behaviours we
tend to attract more of that to us.

So really when you think about it when we become aware of these ‘shadows’, these
feelings we should begin to celebrate because it means we are going to grow,
become more aligned all it takes is just a little work with our unconscious
mind ~ and that’s what we do here.

 Enjoy
and if this has connected with you email us here

Loneliness advice ~ hypnotherapy in Cambridge

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

Being alone for some people can be just what they want. A time for thinking, working things out in their heads ~ finding a little space in our busy lives.

For others being alone can be isolating to the extreme and create deep feelings of loneliness.

If you have ever experienced this you will know that feeling, which is different for each one of us. For some it may be an empty feeling, others a feeling of loss and helplessness.

So for those who want that space and can’t find it what can you do?

Well one thing is to commit to yourself in advance. Commit to a time (and a place) and keep in sacrosanct. Tell others who may want your time what you are doing so they can respect your time and give you the space you want.

Then go do it

and you may wish to record your thoughts in a journal especially how good it is to have this space and time with yourself. You are speaking to your best friend, your unconscious mind, this way and therefore the next time you do this the experience will get better and better.

But what about those of us who feel alone now?

What can we do?

Well, there are many things you can do and the information’s is all around, in libraries, newspapers or the internet to find activities, groups or relationships. I know that’s easier said than done if our loneliness is connected to grief, sadness, low self esteem or limiting beliefs we have about ourselves.

The thing is it doesn’t have to be this way (the title of my book about grief) because there is plenty of help at hand

such as:

  • Yes of course we’re here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy and can help you find the real you, the you with all the resources and confidence to create the life what you choose.
  • read empowering autobiographies ~ there’s plenty from Victor Frankl to those of ‘Dragons Den’ and plenty in between.
  • Go on a couple of seminars ~ Joseph’s ‘Reclaim your Destiny’ and ‘Empowerment Live’ to name but two
  • Do a mind map of all the things that interested you as a child, things that excited you and when you have filled a whole page ask yourself the question ” where can I find these feelings or something similar now?”
  • Read “Feel the Fear and do it anyway”
  • go to a book shop and look at all the self help books available and pick one that feels right. Don’t just Read it ~ READ IT and DO WHAT IT SUGGESTS!

the list goes on only your imagination is your boundary and that’s infinite

National No-Smoking Day

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

Today, Wednesday March 9th 2011, marks No Smoking Day, so what better day than to decide to quit smoking with Cambridge Hypnotherapy. We here have helped countless ex smokers become free from their old daily habit, and start to enjoy the results form having given up smoking.

To start with, there is the financial benefit. The average smoker who smokes 20 a day will save around £2500 per year, and thats not even taking into account the ‘extras’ on nights out etc. What would you spend £2500 a year on if someone came up to you and handed it to you today? A car? Clothes? Maybe a nice holiday in the sun?

Then there is the undoubted health benefits of quitting smoking. In just 20 minutes an ex-smokers blood pressure and pulse would return back to normal. In just 24 hours carbon monoxide is eliminated from the body and the lungs will start to clear the build up of tar. Within 2-12 weeks circulation improves, making walking and running a lot easier. At 3-9 months all those nasty coughs, wheezing and breathing problems improve as the lungs increase their capacity for oxygen. Even the risk of heart attack is halved after 1 year of not smoking and after 10 years of quitting the risk of lung cancer is halved.

And lets not forget the appearance benefits? What would it be like to know that that smell s no longer lingering after you everywhere you go, or that the stains on the fingers have just disappeared? Maybe you would like to know that you’re gums are healthier and your teeth are whiter? Or knowing that you will no longer run the risk of premature ageing?

Giving up smoking doesn’t have to be hard, and using Cambridge Hypnotherapy will make it the easiest possible way for you. Using advanced levels of NLP, TimeLine Therapy and Hypnosis, we can help you achieve your goal of becoming a non smoker in only ONE session. We also offer all of our client a free initial consultation as well as giving you 2 CDs to help you on your journey

Why not contact us here now to find out just how easy it can be?

Resolving grief (hypnotherapy in Cambridge)

Monday, March 7th, 2011

How long do we have to, need to grieve?

Some time ago I wrote about remembering in a different way which in no small way was brought about by my writing my own book about overcoming grief and a personal journey in resolving and moving on from grief.

You see we tend to immediately think as grief being caused by the loss of a loved one and so it is. The thing is there are so many more things that happen to us that cause us to grieve and create that hollow feeling inside. These can come from a myriad of losses such as:

  • the loss of a job
  • retirement and losing the feeling of being useful
  • someone leaving us but still alive
  • losing our home
  • losing a business we created
  • etc. etc. the list goes on.

There’s also the beliefs we have of how long should we grieve. Is it being disrespectful to only grieve for a short time and what will others think of us. All these factors create negative emotions within us, over and above that real grief feeling.

So with all that going on inside us it’s no wonder we suffer and usually in that isolated feeling of loneliness.

So that’s why I wrote my little piece following the progress of my ‘best friend’ until someone was brave enough to challenge me.

You tell the story of a “friend”. It is your own story, isn’t it? At least, it seemed to me to be your own story. If so, I wonder, if you would consider to tell your story using “I” ? Don’t feel embarrassed when you tell your own story. This is why books are read. Authors need to be shameless and find the words for what others can’t say.

and so I have re-written my book, my Story and no hiding behind the facade of my friend. I have told like it was, what I did to change and how it felt and how it feels to be free of all those horrible feelings.

Added to this I have included hypnosis tracks to download that take you through some of the exercises I describe in this book to compliment and speed up the process of letting go of grief and all the other emotions that are attached.

Track 1 Mind Mapping,

Track 2 Accessing your unique Qualities and finding your Passion

Track 3 Releasing and Moving On

My final piece is to narrate this to audio to make it easier for those who like to listen and hear which will happen sometime soon.

At the moment it’s called “IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY

It’s not meant to be instead of getting help from people like us at Cambridge Hypnotherapy and is intended to support, encourage and teach ways of finding our selves again.

Are You Scared of hypnosis?

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

The other day a client called about coming along to an initial consultation but was scared. She had beeen recommended to ‘try’ hypnotherapy by a friends and even though her friend new the results first hand she still remained scared and worried. This can be typical for quite a few people so I thought I would let you know the truth.

So let’s describe a typical hypnosis trance:

If you get up in the mornings with an alarm then you will sure to have had this experience or if you have been asleep and just in that semi awake state, not asleep yet not quite awake. You can probably remember a time right now.

It’s just that you know you could get up, you can hear everything that’s going on, you are aware you are not asleep but it’s just too comfortable and you are soooooo relaxed. ~ That’s it, that’s what being in a trance is like ~ You’re in control ~ totally! You could get up but you well Hmmmm it’s nice here. Yet if you had to get up and deal with something you could.

And there is another great thing that we feel here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy, with our unique Hypnotherapy, is that you may not even be hypnotized because we specialise in NLP and Time Line therapy as well as hypnosis because hypnosis may not be the right thing for you.

But we digress; let’s ask a few questions that if you are scared would put your mind at rest.

Question: Will I lose control?

Answer: Absolutely not! And don’t believe anyone tells you different. A real hypnotherapist guides your unconscious mind to find your answers, never direct you to do anything.

Question: Will I suffer any side affects?

Answer: Probably ~ you may just feel a whole lot better than you felt before!

Question: Will I feel hypnotized or be lie like I am in a coma?

Answer: You will have probably seen people being hypnotized on the stage and looking completely ‘out of it’ well that’s so far from the truth in a therapy setting. Yes, you will probably feel really relaxed and comfortable and the thing is you will hear everything being said to you, it’s just that you will have your eyes closed.

The best thing you can do is make sure you come along to an initial consultation first, it’s totally complimentary and you can get all the information and answers you need first hand. You will find like most things you worried about and when you did them, you got through them and probably enjoyed them ~ hypnosis is the same.

Plus because we really enjoy our work and helping people get what they want we find our clients enjoy it too!

Check out our testimonials if you want to see what successes our clients have achieved
