I was talking to a prospective client on the telephone just the other day desperately seeking help for their child. Unfortunately I did not feel we were the right people to help, or may better put I had a feeling there must and should be someone more experienced in this particular field/problem area to deal with a client of such a young age.
The problem this lady had was she felt totally unsupported and left with no particular course of action. Obviously if she was unable to find someone we would offer to help ~ I just thought there must be a more experienced person used to dealing with this.
If I wasn’t the right person I could certainly be a person to offer support and help which is what I did ~ in two ways.
The first was to ask a simple question which I thought would have been asked by the ‘Experts’! Which was
“ Well what happened just before the problem started?”
A simple question and generally there always seems to a trigger in our lives that creates our issues. To my disbelief it hadn’t been asked yet the answer gave all the information you would need to help heal the situation/issue and gave hope that having identified the why/how the problem started there was a way in resolving it for her child. Maybe you can forgive GPs not asking this question in the 10 minutes they have to deal with their patients but this was a serious thing to be happening to one so young it seemed to me the natural question to start with.
The second thing I did was to find information of someone more qualified to help, call them and relayed details to both parties. If all else fails we will see the child and do the best we can because that’s what caring people do.
Now the thing is, finding the trigger is one thing, it’s really a protection mechanism of the body and our unconscious mind. Getting that trigger to trigger off a better behaviour is the real key to success. If we spend just a little time, using our specially developed questioning we seem to find the cause as well. That’s why we rarely see our clients more than 2-3 sessions.
From there on it’s relatively easy to create the change both comfortably and easily that stays changed. Our metaphor is of a weed the more you pull the leaves the more leaves it seems to grow (the problem spreads to other areas of our lives) BUT when you pull out the root the weed and all its leaves disappear for good.
So I guess to sum up if you have a problem makes you feel bad or react in way you don’t like get in touch and ask if we can help. A consultation costs you nothing – It’s complimentary and it could just change your life for the better there and then. I know we can help if not personally we can help you find a way. Because that’s what we do

I know Luke will soon writing of two amazing successes he received feed back from last week. Both to do with Fears and Phobias but with totally different and startling results.
I’d like to tell of a client I saw last week too, which at the consultation the main issue was anxiety around driving (which is so so easy to change by the way).
This changed however when we began the session ~ was anxiety around driving the cause of this clients issue, they thought it was when they came but we soon discovered this was simply an effect of the real issue which when it came to light was that they were still suffering from grief together with an un-supporting belief to boot.
Did I panic because I had only prepared for a driving session ~ absolutely not because I hadn’t prepared in that way. We here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy never assume any issue is the real issue until we are sure because as a general rule it isn’t. That’s why so many others (therapists) fail to help their clients quickly and comfortably which I think is a disservice to our clients. All of us here (Luke, Joseph and myself) are committed to brief therapy (the fewest amount of sessions) and complete and lasting change.
Anyway back to my client. Once we, well the client really discovered the real cause of their anxiety (they understood and new now that this was the real problem that needed being dealt with) we did deal with it quickly and with no tears. Well no tears until we had finished but they were tears of joy because they now had a set of wonderful memories and a loving connection with that person they had been grieving for, grieving for far to long and now they felt like a whole weight had been lifted from their shoulders. That really does make this job a brilliant one.
One session that’s all it took to get that kind of freedom.
Your problems could disappear that quickly too why not call 01223 720 120 or email us by clicking here

We have all made New Year’s Resolutions only to find them disappearing within a day or two from our minds.
Why is that?
One reason is that we all have a little baggage, some emotions like anger, sadness or guilt that seems to be around just when we don’t want it or lie in the background like a shadow. It’s these things that if we don’t let them go we will never get what we want and the thing is we deserve to have all the things we dream of having and experiencing ~ Well that’s our belief.
There used to be a belief in therapy that to let things go, change our negative beliefs takes a long long time, over many sessions. In fact we still see this on some therapists websites saying “10-12 sessions usually required”!!!!!!! (they’re our !!!!!!!! marks!!!)
The thing is that’s not the way we see it here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy we rarely see anybody more than three sessions before we get their results.
So with this in mind why would you want to wait to change the way you feel now to how you want to feel. You wouldn’t and couldn’t if you really want to be the way you want to be. And that’s the key really wanting (and you don’t have to know how because we know the how)
And here’s another and
AND………………
it costs you nothing to find out if we’re right for you
all you have to do is contact us and arrange a Complimentary Consultation ~ 20 minutes to how we can help you and get a complimentary Hypnosis cd and 2 hypnosis downloads too! and (yes another and) they’ll be no pressure from us because it’s always your choice.
If you want you can call and speak with us personally on 01223 720 120

This is sort of a clients experience and it’s an experience that we here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy look out for and listen for.
It’s a time when we help our clients not to be clients until they are ready.
You see Hypnotherapy, especially the way we have developed it is extremely powerful at getting the results you want. And that’s the thing we listen for is it what you want and need. For many it’s just the right thing to change from what you’re feeling to how you want to feel in as little as 2-3 sessions with us.
But
And here is the but:
What if you don’t want to stop smoking but your partner wants you to stop?
What if you bite your nails and your family, not you, want you to stop it?
For some therapists you would be booked into a session with what measure of success? Well probably none and we’ll explain that later.
With us you come along to an initial consultation and we explain how we work and use this time to find out if it’s you who want to change. Because it’s so important to your success in changing if you want to stop and change ~ really important!
If we notice that you are here under someone else’s wishes we will not work with you, you don’t have a problem and you will waste your time and money and we will not let that happen. We will give you a complimentary hypnosis CD and when and if you change your mind and you want to change you then we will book you in to a session ~ only then though.
So you can rest assured when you do visit us we have only your best interests at heart and when you understand that you know you are in the right place at the right time with the right person that can help.
And when you do get the results you want we get to share in your pleasure of being the one who did it (with a little help from us)

Wow! what a difficult question: Do I stop smoking before Christmas or stop smoking after Christmas? Do I use Hypnotherapy to stop smoking or do it by myself?
It’s difficult to advise the best time to stop smoking other than when you, yes YOU, decide to.
But the question this time of year is….
Do I stop before Christmas or after???????
And that’s where it helps to come along to an initial consultation and ask those important questions and more importantly get the answers that you need.
You see it all depends on what smoking does for you. If it relieves stress and if Christmas time is likely to be stressful then we may suggest smoke through the whole of Christmas but and it’s a big BUT make a decision before Christmas to stop. Not only make that decision but make a date and a time i.e. Book a stop smoking session! That means you’re telling yourself that you will definitely stop and at the right time. In that way you are telling your unconscious mind that you appreciate what it is doing for you and that you will both find a better way but until then it’s okay..
This talk of appreciating what your unconscious mind is doing for you may seem a little strange to comprehend and it’s fully explained at our complementary consultation and it’s the basis of how we really help you stop in one session.
We’ll also give you something to help you think really differently along with our ‘What will it mean’ hypnosis CD that will get your mind to think differently too.
So if you are a little indecisive of what to do and when to do it the very best thing you can do is contact us by:
clicking here
or
calling us on 01223 720 120
and we can advise you so you can make the best decision for you
we’ll even send you a link to around 30 minutes of relaxing hypnosis by us whatever you choose to do.
So invest in yourself and spend 20 minutes of your time (yes that’s all it costs) and book up an initial consultation.
You may find a whole lot more too.

So how deep do you have to go into hypnosis to get the benefit?
Some people, including some hypnotists still think you have to go really deep. Yet when you think about it, if you have an issue you have surely changed from what you did to what you do now. That’s just logical, isn’t it? And when you changed back then were you put in a deep trance? ~ I think not.
Which all goes on to suggest you may not need a trance to change ~ Hey that’s NLP and Time line therapy(tm) isn’t it? Well you may not know what they are but believe me they’re processes that do not require trance.
SO………….
Why use hypnosis?
Good question!
Well sometimes we have thought about our problem for ages, talked about it to everyone or just ourselves for a long time and we need to get away from all these conscious thoughts. Another great reason is that our issues, which we really believe are just behaviours, are being carried out by our unconscious mind (try walking with only your conscious mind ~ it doesn’t work) the place to change is at the unconscious level and get your unconscious mind to do all the work.
That’s the great thing about the way all three of us work here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy. We can adapt our processes to you and your needs so if hypnosis isn’t required then that’s okay.
We once had a client who really didn’t want to be hypnotised and for a hypnotist that could have been a real problem! Not here we used other ways to help that person change comfortably. We have also had clients who have heard just how good hypnosis is and only want that and that’s what we use, we just adapt what we do, it’s as simple as that.
So back to the original question
The Answer:
Who cares as long as you do (get the benefit)

It’s an interesting but sad fact that divorce lawyers/solicitors do more business over the Christmas period than any other time of the year.
The time of year when we hear ‘Good will to all (wo)men’, the giving time and that time when we think of new resolutions.
Yet it seems for many we just can’t communicate our love for each other in a way that’s understood or received in a way we want it to be.
So what in essence should be a wonderful time of our year where we get more of that valuable thing called time to spend with our loved ones can end up in such an emotional minefield.
The thing is it doesn’t have to be this way at all if you don’t want it to be. YOU can make it a time that increases and intensifies your relationships.
Here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy we have worked with many clients to reinforce the core of their relationship with their partner or family easily and comfortably.
It doesn’t take long and it doesn’t always need you both to attend. You know as well as we do when one half of a relationship steps up and makes things better the other will automatically follow. That’s just a simple fact of life!
Here’s a thought:
Think about the first time you kissed your partner, the very first time. Remember what you felt back then, go on really feel it again and notice you can intensify or magnify that feeling.
And, as you dothat, think of another wonderful time when you really felt that love and again really feel that feeling.
And then……..
look at you partner holding on to that feeling and ask yourself
“What can I do now to express this feeling?” and then just do it!
That’s only the tip of the iceberg of what we can do. Imagine having someone to guide you through empowering processes that will increase your love, your life and your future.

Imagine how much more difficult life would be if lifts and escalators didn’t exist? Having to visit relatives in a hospital on the 12th floor…. going into large shopping centres and wanting to have a look in a shop on the top level…. realising you have parked on the top floor of the car park and now you have to carry all of your heavy shopping bags up with you, every step of the way.
Well for some people this is their life. A phobia of lifts and escalators is hugely common, and it certainly was for Rachel (name changed for confidentiality). Rachel was in her 70’s and had never been in a lift or travelled up/down an escalator in her entire life, which for me is a huge thing to even fathom. Up until a short while before she contacted me, she Rachel had been content to accept this and wasn’t too fussed about changing now, after all, in her words she’d “managed ok up until now”. However, not only did she have a phobia of lifts and escalators, she was also immensely afraid of flying, and had never been on a plane as the thought of it was just too much and sent her into a state of panic. However she now had a newly found motivation in the shape of a grandchild who lived a plane journey away, and she wasn’t letting this fear get in the way of that!
So you’re probably thinking that as she had had these phobias for over 70 years, and that there was a fear of flying, lifts AND escalators it must have taken lots of sessions to help Rachel let go of them all. Surely it couldn’t be as easy as someone who had had a phobia for only a very short time, could it? The short answer is YES, it was that simple. It took Rachel only 90 minutes to finally be free of those horrible feelings. Only 30 minutes after our session, she rang me to say she was in john Lewis, travelling down the escalator, and she couldn’t believe the view of the shop, something she had never even contemplated before. And then only a few weeks later I received the following email, which highlights just how far Rachel had come!
Hi Luke
Just wanted to let you know that I had a fantastic holiday and had no
problems with going in lifts and even though our room was on the 7th
floor I was able to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the views – prior
to having hypnotherapy with you I couldn’t go in a lift and wouldn’t be
happy going above the 2nd floor let alone look out over a balcony.
Also managed really well on the flights this time.
So thank you very much Luke as it has made a huge difference to my
life..
SO if there is something that you want to change in your life, whether it’s a phobia you want to let go of, or simply to become more confident and let go of anxiety, contact us now to find out just how quickly you can do it!

Being alone for some people can be just what they want. A time for thinking, working things out in their heads ~ finding a little space in our busy lives.
For others being alone can be isolating to the extreme and create deep feelings of loneliness.
If you have ever experienced this you will know that feeling, which is different for each one of us. For some it may be an empty feeling, others a feeling of loss and helplessness.
So for those who want that space and can’t find it what can you do?
Well one thing is to commit to yourself in advance. Commit to a time (and a place) and keep in sacrosanct. Tell others who may want your time what you are doing so they can respect your time and give you the space you want.
Then go do it
and you may wish to record your thoughts in a journal especially how good it is to have this space and time with yourself. You are speaking to your best friend, your unconscious mind, this way and therefore the next time you do this the experience will get better and better.
But what about those of us who feel alone now?
What can we do?
Well, there are many things you can do and the information’s is all around, in libraries, newspapers or the internet to find activities, groups or relationships. I know that’s easier said than done if our loneliness is connected to grief, sadness, low self esteem or limiting beliefs we have about ourselves.
The thing is it doesn’t have to be this way (the title of my book about grief) because there is plenty of help at hand
such as:
- Yes of course we’re here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy and can help you find the real you, the you with all the resources and confidence to create the life what you choose.
- read empowering autobiographies ~ there’s plenty from Victor Frankl to those of ‘Dragons Den’ and plenty in between.
- Go on a couple of seminars ~ Joseph’s ‘Reclaim your Destiny’ and ‘Empowerment Live’ to name but two
- Do a mind map of all the things that interested you as a child, things that excited you and when you have filled a whole page ask yourself the question ” where can I find these feelings or something similar now?”
- Read “Feel the Fear and do it anyway”
- go to a book shop and look at all the self help books available and pick one that feels right. Don’t just Read it ~ READ IT and DO WHAT IT SUGGESTS!
the list goes on only your imagination is your boundary and that’s infinite
If you do want one to one help get in contact with us and arrange a complementary consultation via email enquiries@cambridgehypnotherapy.co.uk or better still call us on 01223 720 120
Choose to take action now

I was reading some blogs about anxiety and some were sensationalist and talking about people in the music world etc. The thing is we all, yes all of us, suffer from anxiety in some way or other. For some it seems to propel them into action but I have the thought that this is an extreme way to motivate ourselves. Anxiety may be seen as a simple message from our unconscious minds to prepare for something and in that way have an intention to protect us and keep us safe.
One or the presuppositions of NLP is that ‘every behaviour has a positive intention’ and although the intention here is great, anxiety doesn’t make us feel safe or protected. So as we teach unconscious minds here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy ~ Keep that positive intention and find another way, an empowering way to behave. Knowing how to do this is our speciality which we developed and it works!
It’s great to read advice that comforts those who suffer from anxiety. There’s so much we can read from the internet and if we are careful in what we choose to read there are some very caring people out there sharing.
The thing is we all suffer to some extent although I guess when we feel really anxious we feel isolated and the only person in the world feeling like this.
Here’s a tip
When you begin to feel anxious close your eyes and remember a time when you felt in control and confident, a time when you succeeded. See what you saw then, hear what you heard and feel those feelings. Open your eyes and take some action ~ Now!
This simple way that I hope helps, a sticking plaster or quick fix
If you however feel anxious often know that you can be helped to deal with those negative feelings easily and comfortably~ If not here with us then there’ll be someone near to you that can help
Call to speak with us directly 01223 720 120 or email via our website here to ask a question or enquire about a complimentary initial consultation.
