Thank You ~ and that feels like what?

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

How many times do we say thank you?

Yes we, well a lot of us, have read and try to have an attitude of gratitude and I’ve written about that and how to feel grateful. But what I was thinking about this morning, over my cup of coffee, do we say thank you to those close to us? The people in our lives that are there all the time.

Sitting in the morning sun, I realised, even with all my training and learning I haven’t said thank you enough. Yes when things were bad and they were there for me, you know the type of times, we’ve all had them, and I’ve thought it and even sometimes said it. But you see, it’s only in these times when we notice their acts of support and kindness.

What came to me, as I sat quietly, was ‘what about all the other times?’ When being themselves they were there too. That smile, that look or little action that goes unnoticed and so often unappreciated. The thing I found was that as I thought of this I begun to appreciate them in my life and how my life would be so much less without them in it. Yes, the little things add up to so much more than we can imagine if we don’t take time just to take the time and appreciate and feel grateful.

And it’s more than that ~ “What is?”

I know that being energy, that’s you and me and all those others, and therefore connected to everyone and everything our thoughts will go to those we think of. But what would happen if you took the courage to say “thank you” without wanting a response. Yes we would or could appear soppy, well in our minds, but would we. How would you feel if your father/mother/son/daughter came and said to you “Thank you ~ just thank you” and went about their day?

Would you think of them as ‘soppy’? and how would you feel. Think about it now.

Hmmmmm……….. Maybe there’s something in this, it does feel……….

And then there’s-

How do you react when someone says thank you to you? Cast your mind back to a time when you gave someone something or did something for them and they said ‘thank you’. My bet is that more often than not you said something like “It was nothing” or “It’s only something small you probably won’t like it anyway” or words of than kind. When the reverse has happened to you how did you feel being told it was nothing?  Let’s think again, what does it/would it feel like to be told ~ “you’re welcome” or “It’s a pleasure – enjoy

Hmmmmm……….. Maybe there’s something in this, it does feel……….

So it’s not only saying thank you more often it’s also how you respond to being thanked that can make you feel a real sense of connection and let others feel that too. A few small words said with congruency can change both your day and those around you.

Thank you for listening with your eyes and your heart

A simple way to begin to create your dreams

Friday, May 1st, 2009

A long time ago, yes I know this sounds like a fairy tale, I wrote down a whole bunch of dreams. One in particular came true many years later, much to my surprise. Even more of a surprise was that when I had the opportunity to have it come true, I became concerned about actually being able to have it and even thought about not letting it happen. I felt if I got this now, then what? It was a little scary I have to admit.

So if you like me are fascinated by our dreams for the future and wonder how we can turn them from dreams to reality and enjoy having them become real then this might be for you ~ a simple way to start.

When you start looking for ways to do this you may find, like I did, there are so many different ways but all have a similar theme.

So I began to think what could I do to simplify this, if only to make a start.

You see, to me, a dream is really only a wish and wishes sometime come true and sometimes……..well they stay a wish. To change a dream into something you experience, when you want to experience it, it has to have action. You need to know what that dream really means to you, what will it be like to have it and what else will it effect in my life.

This sounds heavy (if sounds have weight?) so I wanted to have something that was easy to do and made me feel good as I did it

.

Try this out.

Think of one of those dreams you have and starting easy pick the BIGGEST.

Write it down, go on be brave no one’s looking!

Then write down what would having achieved that dream mean to you, and repeat this a few times… what else would it mean to me and what else etc.

Now if after this it really does mean a lot to you, write down all the things you would be doing and enjoying already having got this dream.

If this makes you excited about creating this dream pick one of those things you will be doing and begin to get doing it. Go on! Take the first step and follow your intuition. Then the next thing and then the next and so on.

I know for all those experts out there this is way to simple and I agree. In our trainings using NLP and Time Line TherapyTM and working with clients we go into this much deeper and for those of you who just want to dip your toe into making your dreams come true this is a great and simple way to start.

I’d love some feedback on how you found this process and how motivated you were/are to begin bring about the creation of your dreams into your life

Joseph Clough through to the last 12 ~ Britains next top Coach

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

In a few days time Joseph and I are off to Cheltenham to the semi-finals of Britains Next Top Coach. As you can see by the title Joseph has been chosen to be in the last 12 of the competition.

So hopefully he can show everyone his undoubted (in my opinion) skills. In any event this is a great achievement for one so young (and special to this work).

Like both Luke, one of his brothers, and I he is not only talking the talk but getting great results walking the walk with NLP, hypnosis, time line therapy and our own developments of these.

A simple way to feel good about yourself

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Some time ago I was feeling very low. Things had happened in my life that really made me feel really low. In fact it was horrible to feel so low.

And one thing I did to change that was this simple thing.

I got a sheet of paper and in the middle of it I wrote

‘My Qualities’ and drew a circle around it. And I asked myself what are my qualities?” and to be honest the way I was feeling I couldn’t answer, I didn’t feel I had any.Anyway, I persisted, kept asking and listening for an answer and I thought…….Well at least I’m alive! that’s a qualitiy. so I drew a line from the circle and wrote that out. Then a little later they began to flow

I’ve had a sense of humour so that was a quality

I’ve made people laugh

My sons love me so I can be loved and I’m a father (that was two by the way)

I’ve painted pictures before so in my way I’m creative

I can learn things (done that before)

I have helped others

I know I’ve inspired a few people

I can breathe/smile/laugh

I can be a good friend

I have been supportive

I’ve been in love so I can love and accept love

and the list just went on and on and on…………………………..

When I’d fininshed I re-read it all in my quiet place and I began to feel different. I began to remember times that made me feel those qualities again and they were true to me.

I knew then that life would be different now and with those qualities I could feel better. Just focusing on those qualities seemed to make a difference every day to the way I felt, the way I acted and to those I lived with or met.

In fact we (that’s Joseph and I) use this in our Reclaim Your Destiny weekend seminars and on the last one when we asked for feedback someone shouted out “I really like me! ~ Thank you!”So why don’t you give this a try?

If you’re feeling low or down, even acting depressed or maybe just out of a relationship take a few minutes to remind yourself who you really are.

If you’re feeling good – do it too and make yourself feel even more better than you are right now.

You can come back to this at any time. Add to it as you remember more qualities, maybe remembering what others have told you but you didn’t believe them.

Just think how you would feel going into a meeting or facing a problem if you re-read those qualities and how much better the outcome would be when you feel that way.

Simple things make profound changes.

Anchoring the Law of Attraction

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

I was reading an interesting book on the subject of the Law of Attraction. How we attract what we get by the way we feel. If we feel lack, we attract more lack (I know that’s not a good way of putting it but you understand what I mean) and if we feel abundant in anything we attract more of that, be it joy, happiness, wealth etc. Which seems to make sense if you can remember when you felt things just couldn’t get any better ~ they do! They did! or the reverse when you felt nothing else could wrong and it did.

Now the thing that really interested me was that when we feel negative, down or just have a feeling we don’t want or like, it is simply a signal from our unconscious mind, our inner guidance, that we’re not aligned with what we want. Just a signal. I wonder how many times we haven’t recognised that signal or done something about it?

Well knowing these feelings are a signal of our out of alignment we can now do something about changing it and re correct our course for attracting what we want.

Simply by asking ourselves the question ~ “how do I want to feel instead?” The action of coming up with an answer will begin the process.

But how do you create this feeling that you want?

Well briefly, there are a number of ways and I’ll give you an example of one or two.

Firstly when you know how you want to feel, remember a time when you felt it before and you will get a sense of that memory and in your mind step into it again. Re-live it as it were. As you do this become aware of just the feeling and begin to increase it, magnify it, intensify it more than what it was. Some people are able to spin the feeling faster and faster and that too can make it stronger.

If you squeeze you thumb and forefinger together at the highest point of the feeling and hold them there for about 10 seconds you will have created an ‘anchor’ (an NLP term) If you do this a couple of times more the stronger it will be.

Now to help you go through the thing that made you feel the way you didn’t want to~

As you think of what you are doing that caused you to feel negative before see yourself completing what you were/are doing as you squeeze that thumb and forefinger together and notice how you feel now about what you are doing. Keep doing this every now and then as you continue with the task.

And going back to where I started.

Take time out to feel the way you want to feel in the future, notice what you want in the future and how it will feel when you have achieved it. If you do it often enough you may just find that you find yourself in situations that make you feel that way more often.

You can learn to do this and so much more at our certified NLP trainings

or experience it one to one.

We hope to bring this to an audio download in the near future so stay tuned for that!

Now go and enjoy the feelings you want.

Creating what you want ~ testimonials

Friday, January 30th, 2009

We have received wonderful feedback of our weekend seminar ‘Reclaim your Destiny’ and wanted to share these. It makes us feel great to have given something we’re passionate about and have that passion found and reciprocated. So much so we are planning more in the near future and our intention is make them better than ever!

Here’s a couple:

“Hi Paul and Joseph,
Just writing to thank you for a wonderful weekend. I felt very inspired by the end of it and look foreward to achieving my many goals.
It was a truly great seminar with lots of interesting people and great leadership and support from you both.
Thankyou
and….

Tricia”

“I really enjoyed the weekend – a wonderful indulgence that I have not had for many years. It was also so wonderful to meet so many different people and get a look into their inspirations and aspirations.

An excellent weekend of thought provoking and practical guidelines to enhance my experience of the world, carer and personal life. The aspect I was most cynical about, the meditations and hypnosis, I actually enjoyed the most and they really reinforced the different topics cover. Indeed, I have taken the techniques and visualisations with me – I shoot down my negativity death star regularly especially on a Monday mornings!

In any case, it was a real tonic and put into place many goals, techniques and “learnings” for today and tomorrow. The energy it has given is amazing and I feel in control of my day to day and my destiny. Before the seminar I began to suffer from panic attacks at night. My wife, helped me through these as she has already completed your NLP Practitioners course. She also suggested I attend your Reclaim Your Destiny Weekend, with some trepidation, fear and cynicism I went. However, it is the best thing I have done in many years, a really joyous, purposeful, positive experience. The techniques and exercises have given me the tools to reclaim control over my life and destiny. My anxiety levels have significantly reduced and panic attacks have been banished.
