Cambridge Hypnotherapy spreading it’s wings?

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Exciting times here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy.

I (Paul) am now involved in helping create a brand new hypnotherapy clinic and Therapy Centre “The Waterside” all the way down in Bournemouth. Taking all the ways we have learned and specially developed in helping people change or let go of issues really quickly and comfortably to a place 200 meters from the cliff side.

Luke continues here in Cambridge and it’s great to see the changes he is being involved with in our clients. When I’m here every day that sometimes is missed by me and taken for granted in our busy day.

I’ll be working both here and there so our contact details will always remain the same and if on the days I’m not here Luke will make arrangement for me. (how lucky am I?!) 01223 720 120

Fears and Phobias ~ a lifting and flying experience ~ Gone in only 90 minutes

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Imagine how much more difficult life would be if lifts and escalators didn’t exist? Having to visit relatives in a hospital on the 12th floor…. going into large shopping centres and wanting to have a look in a shop on the top level…. realising you have parked on the top floor of the car park and now you have to carry all of your heavy shopping bags up with you, every step of the way.

Well for some people this is their life. A phobia of lifts and escalators is hugely common, and it certainly was for Rachel (name changed for confidentiality). Rachel was in her 70’s and had never been in a lift or travelled up/down an escalator in her entire life, which for me is a huge thing to even fathom. Up until a short while before she contacted me, she Rachel had been content to accept this and wasn’t too fussed about changing now, after all, in her words she’d “managed ok up until now”. However, not only did she have a phobia of lifts and escalators, she was also immensely afraid of flying, and had never been on a plane as the thought of it was just too much and sent her into a state of panic. However she now had a newly found motivation in the shape of a grandchild who lived a plane journey away, and she wasn’t letting this fear get in the way of that!

So you’re probably thinking that as she had had these phobias for over 70 years, and that there was a fear of flying, lifts AND escalators it must have taken lots of sessions  to help Rachel let go of them all. Surely it couldn’t be as easy as someone who had had a phobia for only a very short time, could it? The short answer is YES, it was that simple. It took Rachel only 90 minutes to finally be free of those horrible feelings. Only 30 minutes after our session, she rang me to say she was in john Lewis, travelling down the escalator, and she couldn’t believe the view of the shop, something she had never even contemplated before. And then only a few weeks later I received the following email, which highlights just how far Rachel had come!

Hi Luke

Just wanted to let you know that I had a fantastic holiday and had no

problems with going in lifts and even though our room was on the 7th

floor I was able to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the views – prior

to having hypnotherapy with you I couldn’t go in a lift and wouldn’t be

happy going above the 2nd floor let alone look out over a balcony.

Also managed really well on the flights this time.

So thank you very much Luke as it has made a huge difference to my

life..

Coping and Dealing with Grief ~ Now the cost of a good Magazine!

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

I have been thinking for a little while now having been in the company of people suffering from grief in some form or another. From the death of a loved one, broken marriages and relationships to loss of being able to find themselves.

Grief comes to us for many reasons and many different issues and it doesn’t matter if others think them silly or simply we should just get on with it, it is felt deeply by those who suffer.

And suffer is what we do which is the thing we need not do!

Remember ~ Yes,

Be Grateful ~ Yes

Live our lives fully and with passion ~ Yes

So I’ve decided to reduce the price of my Ebook and accompanying hypnosis downloads to £5.00. Not as a sale or for the short term but to cover costs ~ and that’s it

Chasing Shadows and healing them.

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

I’ve been reading an interesting book about dealing with Shadows ~ those within us.

It has an interesting take on using the energies of these internal shadows, when
they reveal themselves to us, to produce something positive. Put the energy
into things we enjoy and especially those of a creative nature. I know this has
worked tremendously well for the writer of this book.

Sometimes these negative feelings can be so overwhelming and when coupled with a negative
belief can be dis-empowering leading to anxiety at best and depression .

Whilst I love the authors way of using this energy
I also think that with a little skill (things we have developed here at
Cambridge Hypnotherapy can get this part (that particular shadow) of our
unconscious mind to work with us and use its energy at an unconscious level to
produce fantastic results for us.

In this way we can never be overwhelmed by the negative feelings. It’s really a
matter of understanding every behaviour has a positive intention and when that
part (shadow) realises what it is doing is totally in conflict with its
intention it has to let go of the negativity and commit to the better,
congruous way.

I think when we do this at a deep unconscious level, through hypnosis
incorporating NLP when we resolve one issue we notice other areas of our life
changing positively too. It always amazes me how far the ripples of change
spread even to the extent of positively affecting other people in our lives.

And ………………

when we begin to radiate positive thoughts and behaviours we
tend to attract more of that to us.

So really when you think about it when we become aware of these ‘shadows’, these
feelings we should begin to celebrate because it means we are going to grow,
become more aligned all it takes is just a little work with our unconscious
mind ~ and that’s what we do here.

 Enjoy
and if this has connected with you email us here

Loneliness advice ~ hypnotherapy in Cambridge

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

Being alone for some people can be just what they want. A time for thinking, working things out in their heads ~ finding a little space in our busy lives.

For others being alone can be isolating to the extreme and create deep feelings of loneliness.

If you have ever experienced this you will know that feeling, which is different for each one of us. For some it may be an empty feeling, others a feeling of loss and helplessness.

So for those who want that space and can’t find it what can you do?

Well one thing is to commit to yourself in advance. Commit to a time (and a place) and keep in sacrosanct. Tell others who may want your time what you are doing so they can respect your time and give you the space you want.

Then go do it

and you may wish to record your thoughts in a journal especially how good it is to have this space and time with yourself. You are speaking to your best friend, your unconscious mind, this way and therefore the next time you do this the experience will get better and better.

But what about those of us who feel alone now?

What can we do?

Well, there are many things you can do and the information’s is all around, in libraries, newspapers or the internet to find activities, groups or relationships. I know that’s easier said than done if our loneliness is connected to grief, sadness, low self esteem or limiting beliefs we have about ourselves.

The thing is it doesn’t have to be this way (the title of my book about grief) because there is plenty of help at hand

such as:

  • Yes of course we’re here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy and can help you find the real you, the you with all the resources and confidence to create the life what you choose.
  • read empowering autobiographies ~ there’s plenty from Victor Frankl to those of ‘Dragons Den’ and plenty in between.
  • Go on a couple of seminars ~ Joseph’s ‘Reclaim your Destiny’ and ‘Empowerment Live’ to name but two
  • Do a mind map of all the things that interested you as a child, things that excited you and when you have filled a whole page ask yourself the question ” where can I find these feelings or something similar now?”
  • Read “Feel the Fear and do it anyway”
  • go to a book shop and look at all the self help books available and pick one that feels right. Don’t just Read it ~ READ IT and DO WHAT IT SUGGESTS!

the list goes on only your imagination is your boundary and that’s infinite

Hypnotherapy in Cambridge really works!

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

It’s great that our clients not only give us feed back on how they have changed they are also willing to share it with the world through allowing us to show it as testimonials.

We have had two this week and it’s only Wednesday morning!

Both Luke and I know it wasn’t what we both did that created the change in these and all our clients it was their desire to change and willingness to do whatever it takes that really made the change ~ They did it (with, we would like to think , a little help from our unique way of therapy)

“Hi Luke,
Sorry it has taken me a while to reply. I would like to say a massive massive thank you because my work with you has really made a big difference! I am feeling much more confident in a range of situations and am feeling better week by week”

“Dear Paul,

I wanted to let you know that I won’t be needing my next session as I feel extremely happy with what we covered, and I feel fantastic!! I am so grateful to you for helping me look at everyday as a positive and a happy one! Haven’t felt that way for such a long time!!!”

I know other people like to have testimonials to show ‘how good they are” but we see it differently and believe ours show:

  • what’s possible and give hope if hope were needed.
  • and to give encouragement to those who at the time of reading them feel isolated, lonely and and what we often hear looking for a last resort, a last chance.

And it’s been our experience that even the seemingly biggest problems, negative emotions/feelings do have simple and easy solutions when we are prepared not accept the way we feel and ready to do what it takes to change and have what we want for us.

Sometimes “have what we want for us“  can seem a little selfish doing this purely for us and no one else but when we feel back to being the real us and happy being us everyone around us gets to feel that good too! It this way it would be selfish to hold on to the old way,  not change for you and deny people seeing you at your happiest best.

We all deserve to have more happiness than you can stand (was that a hypnotic instruction? )

If any of this has made you think you would like to find out more contact us by clicking  here and we’ll do all we can to help you

Resolving grief (hypnotherapy in Cambridge)

Monday, March 7th, 2011

How long do we have to, need to grieve?

Some time ago I wrote about remembering in a different way which in no small way was brought about by my writing my own book about overcoming grief and a personal journey in resolving and moving on from grief.

You see we tend to immediately think as grief being caused by the loss of a loved one and so it is. The thing is there are so many more things that happen to us that cause us to grieve and create that hollow feeling inside. These can come from a myriad of losses such as:

  • the loss of a job
  • retirement and losing the feeling of being useful
  • someone leaving us but still alive
  • losing our home
  • losing a business we created
  • etc. etc. the list goes on.

There’s also the beliefs we have of how long should we grieve. Is it being disrespectful to only grieve for a short time and what will others think of us. All these factors create negative emotions within us, over and above that real grief feeling.

So with all that going on inside us it’s no wonder we suffer and usually in that isolated feeling of loneliness.

So that’s why I wrote my little piece following the progress of my ‘best friend’ until someone was brave enough to challenge me.

You tell the story of a “friend”. It is your own story, isn’t it? At least, it seemed to me to be your own story. If so, I wonder, if you would consider to tell your story using “I” ? Don’t feel embarrassed when you tell your own story. This is why books are read. Authors need to be shameless and find the words for what others can’t say.

and so I have re-written my book, my Story and no hiding behind the facade of my friend. I have told like it was, what I did to change and how it felt and how it feels to be free of all those horrible feelings.

Added to this I have included hypnosis tracks to download that take you through some of the exercises I describe in this book to compliment and speed up the process of letting go of grief and all the other emotions that are attached.

Track 1 Mind Mapping,

Track 2 Accessing your unique Qualities and finding your Passion

Track 3 Releasing and Moving On

My final piece is to narrate this to audio to make it easier for those who like to listen and hear which will happen sometime soon.

At the moment it’s called “IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY

It’s not meant to be instead of getting help from people like us at Cambridge Hypnotherapy and is intended to support, encourage and teach ways of finding our selves again.

Anxious about Hypnotherapy in Cambridge

Monday, February 28th, 2011
A little while ago I received a reply to an initial consultation reminder text we send out that made me think.

The text read something like this:

Thanks. Ironic that I am seeking your help as I am anxious about everything” and here’s the bit that got me “Including coming to see you!”It’s only because we know the initial consultation is our way to put you at your ease and we have been in so many we’re never anxious!

Being serious though I can really empathise with that comment, sometimes we can be so worried of the unknown we will stay stuck. Some people call it staying in their comfort zone and if you have ever thought that way and I think we all have maybe it should be renamed “the Familiar Zone”. You can be so familiar with your problems, issues and the negative way you feel it can be scary to think of being any other way.

Luke, Joseph and I know this here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy which is why we insist on our prospective clients come to an initial consultation. It’s a time where we can let you know all about our special kind of Hypnotherapy and make you feel really comfortable.

How do we do that?

Well firstly:

You can see we are real people and can tell we are both passionate about your results and you can see that what we are telling you is what we believe in. We don’t sell magically on the telephone or on the web ~ you get to see “the whites of our eyes!” and you get to do this with our compliments, it’s absolutely free.

Secondly:

You get to make a considered decision by getting all your concerns answered and if we’re not for you that’s great and if we are that’s great to.

Thirdly:

You have that worry of being regressed back to times in your life when things were bad ~ because we don’t do that here.

Fourthly:

For those that worry with phobias etc that you will be made to face the thing your fear so much ~ we don’t do that either!

There’s a lot more I could add but then I want you to find out for yourself and start making the changes to your life ~ with a little special help from us.

Are You Scared of hypnosis?

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

The other day a client called about coming along to an initial consultation but was scared. She had beeen recommended to ‘try’ hypnotherapy by a friends and even though her friend new the results first hand she still remained scared and worried. This can be typical for quite a few people so I thought I would let you know the truth.

So let’s describe a typical hypnosis trance:

If you get up in the mornings with an alarm then you will sure to have had this experience or if you have been asleep and just in that semi awake state, not asleep yet not quite awake. You can probably remember a time right now.

It’s just that you know you could get up, you can hear everything that’s going on, you are aware you are not asleep but it’s just too comfortable and you are soooooo relaxed. ~ That’s it, that’s what being in a trance is like ~ You’re in control ~ totally! You could get up but you well Hmmmm it’s nice here. Yet if you had to get up and deal with something you could.

And there is another great thing that we feel here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy, with our unique Hypnotherapy, is that you may not even be hypnotized because we specialise in NLP and Time Line therapy as well as hypnosis because hypnosis may not be the right thing for you.

But we digress; let’s ask a few questions that if you are scared would put your mind at rest.

Question: Will I lose control?

Answer: Absolutely not! And don’t believe anyone tells you different. A real hypnotherapist guides your unconscious mind to find your answers, never direct you to do anything.

Question: Will I suffer any side affects?

Answer: Probably ~ you may just feel a whole lot better than you felt before!

Question: Will I feel hypnotized or be lie like I am in a coma?

Answer: You will have probably seen people being hypnotized on the stage and looking completely ‘out of it’ well that’s so far from the truth in a therapy setting. Yes, you will probably feel really relaxed and comfortable and the thing is you will hear everything being said to you, it’s just that you will have your eyes closed.

The best thing you can do is make sure you come along to an initial consultation first, it’s totally complimentary and you can get all the information and answers you need first hand. You will find like most things you worried about and when you did them, you got through them and probably enjoyed them ~ hypnosis is the same.

Plus because we really enjoy our work and helping people get what they want we find our clients enjoy it too!

Check out our testimonials if you want to see what successes our clients have achieved

Resolving Grief with Hypnotherapy in Cambridge

Monday, January 24th, 2011

Resolving grief can seem so difficult to do and a very lonely place to be. It seems as if we are the only person to feel this or have felt like this.

So firstly ~ It is not so difficult to resolve with the right help

You are not alone in this ~ we have helped many of our clients let go of grief and remember in a good way.

To support our work I have written a short book with audio hypnosis tracks to just show what is possible. It can be used by itself to deal with grief but I would really like it to used as an addition to getting good help.
