A short podcast (audio) about hypnotherapy

A little while ago, through my personal development podcast, I decided to give a brief insight of what to expect or look for when considering hypnotherapy – well from my point of view, which is all I can give. I wanted people to know that whatever your issues, Hypnosis, NLP and Time Line Therapy(TM) can usually help and with such a great effect. No one should put up with not feeling how they want to feel  and so few know what’s really available from the wealth of good hypnotherapists around.

For some, you may be considering going to a hypnotherapist. Well, I thought you may want to have a heads up on to what to look for. These are only my thoughts and opinions so they are obviously based on what I have experienced or learnt along the way and I know there are other thoughts and opinions – I can only share you mine.

Most think of stopping smoking or weight loss when thinking of working with a hypnotherapist and in my experience these are the smaller percentages of client base. Anxiety, panic, depression, OCD, social phobia. PTSD, you fill in the blank etc are all emotional states and behaviours that part and parcel of what are helped overcome.

The most important thing to remember is – you’re NOT broken and do NOT need curing! There are so many great hypnotherapists around doing great work and helping people getting back on track. Go seek one out and make great changes to your life.

You deserve to create the life you wish for and getting a little help just makes that a little quicker.

Here’s the podcast

Getting positive results with (Cambridge) Hypnotherapy

Little steps to a full life of achievement

We’ve noticed lately that so many people when trying to either reach a goal or make changes in their life, with the best of intentions, go about it in a way that almost always ends up in failure!

What a great shame when we see what we want in life, read about it and dream of having it only to be another “I wish” or even worse “If only I’d persisted a little more”

There’s a sure fire way to stop this happening and it’s the same process we teach my clients here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy when they leave to really test our work together.

Before we get to this small but powerful and successful way let’s just take a moment to set the scene for both scenarios.

Achieving your goals ~ We are told in many books and such things as the Law of Attraction etc. to set our goals big and I mean BIG! And I agree whole heartily in this too. We live in our ‘adult Heads’ all day and are prepared to settle for something less than we deserve.

However, if we were to adopt a child’s imagination where anything and everything is possible we dream both Big and also with total freedom and acceptance -That’s the real magic of a dream!! When we do this we can literally feel what it will be like to achieve the dream that’s now a goal.

We can then, if we know the steps, can now work backwards, That’s right backwards, and work out what needs to happen just before achieving our goal and then the step before that and then the step before that and then….. well you get the picture.

But if we don’t know the steps does that mean the goal is unachievable? ~ absolutely

~ NOT!

But so many think so, which means they don’t even begin or think of the largest first step and get scared or have a feeling of failure and give up, re-enforcing their old negative beliefs around failure and not being good enough and any other number of limiting negative beliefs you can think of now.

Testing our change work ~ We’ve noticed and been told of great change work being done in the office but in testing in the real world the client either picked a test way too big for a first test or got so anxious of the same sort of extreme thing to do they just gave up and again reinforced their previous old belief that was so nearly a thing of the past and just needed a gentle push away.

The PROCESS ~

In the paragraph above a mentioned ‘just a gentle push away’ and that’s the essence of the process. Being GENTLE with ourselves.

In both achieving our goals, which we now will call outcomes, and ratifying consciously the great changes you made in a therapy session the process is exactly the same and it is sooooooooo simple!!

In imagining the biggest outcome we desire we get to know what that will feel like when we get it – so simply hold that feeling.

Following our session my clients know what the feeling is they will have to succeed being their true selves so they are simple asked to remember and hold that feeling.

Then………

As you think of what to do, either towards your outcome or test of the change work, you simply hold that feeling and think or ask yourself for the smallest step towards the outcome you can make and still have this feeling and then just do it.

If you think of a step and that feeling is less intense or disappears it just means the step is too big, that’s all! So simply return to that feeling you will feel and think or ask for a smaller step that still retains that feeling for you and do that instead.

You will notice at first the steps will be minute and that’s absolutely correct but the thing is you will soon be leaping forward and always with that feeling which will lead you to your outcome and more.

As Neville Goddard so wisely wrote many years before

“Assume the wish fulfilled and act upon it”

Hypnosis for fear of flying – Cambridge Hypnotherapy for phobias

Monday, October 14th, 2013

Recently I read an article in the national newspapers highlighting a story about a young boy of 12 years old who had developed a phobia of flying and now been stranded in the Middle East for more than one year. Eventually, with the aid of Hypnotherapy, he managed to overcome his fear and fly back with his Father to meet up with his Mother and Sister who had already returned to the UK.

Fear of flying is one of the more common phobias that we work with here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy, however we have worked with pretty much any phobia that you can think of including fear of spiders, fear of heights, fear of needles, fear of dogs, fear of driving and even the fear of shirt buttons among many many more.

The Father in this particular case thought that his Sons phobia had been bought on by an ear infection that bought with it terrible pain and discomfort, and this type of situation is very common. Quite often the phobia is not actually caused by anything bad happening with that particular thing, such as flying issues, but more so by something else which makes it simply a horrible experience, such as the ear infection. The next time that individual gets ready to do that thing again, their unconscious mind remembers what happened last time and how emotionally unpleasant it was, thus creating so much fear that they simply don’t go ahead with doing it! If you don’t do it, it can’t be horrible, right?…. WRONG!!!! By not doing what we want to enjoy doing, it feels pretty horrible in itself!

So how long does it take to let go of a phobia? Well certainly not 12 months! Once someone has decided that the time is right t0 let go of it, it takes no more than 3 sessions. Many of our clients actually achieve their results in less than this!

If you have a fear or phobia that you feel has been affecting your life and would like to find out just how easy it is to let go of your phobia with Cambridge Hypnotherapy, you can contact us here, or call us on 01223 720 120 and we will be more than happy to discuss it with you. You will also receive 2 free downloads, and are welcome to come and visit us for a free initial consultation where you can find out more.

Cambridge Hypnotherapy tips to feel better

Thursday, September 19th, 2013

I have just been asked to give a few quick tips on ways to carry on the great work one of our clients has made so I thought this would be great to share as they can be used by anyone ~ you don’t need to have been a client.

Use your count down timer on your mobile set to one hour and repeat this throughout the day. When it beeps, stop and notice how you feel right now and then make yourself feel just a little better. Little is the main thing ~ just a little better; you’ll find that easy I know. Just remember to turn it off before bed time!!!???

Whenever you catch yourself asking things like “Why do I……, Why can’t I……..? etc. etc” STOP and ask a better question like:

What would be like to feel X or do X (you choose which is appropriate) and enjoy the process of feeling X or doing X ?”

and then just let that happen you don’t need to think of the answer.

Lastly ( for now anyway)

Before you get up , think of your day ahead and imagine how you want it to be if it were to be exactly how you want it to be. Do this for a few minutes. Then ask yourself this question:

What would it be like to have this day just like this or something even better and enjoy every minute of it?

Then get up without thinking of an answer because your unconscious mind will create it for you.

Repeat the mantra

(Your name) comes first ~ number one

Try them out.

These are things everyone can do and remember if you do have issues that are holding you back from enjoying this life of yours you owe it to yourself to let them go and create the change inside of you to have the life you want and dream of. You can do this with a little help from us~ LUKE & PAUL of Cambridge Hypnotherapy

A new wave of blogs are coming from here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy!!!

Monday, June 3rd, 2013

Every week here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy we receive numerous enquiries that seem to centre around a certain theme that is current in the news or media. When we watch or read about a particular situation in the news, or watch something happen in our favourite TV programme it be very easy to relate it to our own personal lives and allow it to stir up a wide range of emotions from regret, guilt, fear or even simply sadness or happiness.

We have decided to focus upon this and start to write a regular weekly blog on whatever we feel is a topical event, allowing all of you that read this to realise just how easy it can be to disconnect and not let it bother you anymore.

Whether it’s reading or hearing about sexual abuse cases that stir up old buried memories, watching TV characters on EastEnders battle with drink or drug addictions, certain storylines in Coronation Street dealing with domestic abuse both mental and physical,  OCD behaviours on programmes such as Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners, or even focusing on eating disorders such as obesity and anorexia on episodes of Supersize vs Superskinny, we will be writing about it!

If you feel that any of our articles have helped you, please feel free to share them around and if you find that you relate to them in any way, and would like to learn how we as Hypnotherapists in Cambridge can help you let go of these issues in only 2-3 sessions, then please feel free to contact us here, or on 01223 720 120 to arrange a FREE initial consultation

Have a great day!

Hypnotherapy v Counseling….. which to choose??

Thursday, April 25th, 2013

Recently I have had a client enquire into the differences between Hypnotherapy and Counseling. In their words they felt they “needed some feminine empathy right now from a female counselor” and it got me thinking about the differences between that and they way that we work.

As I am a 32 year old man, I have to hold my hands up and admit that when it comes to being a female counselor, the other therapist has got me beaten hands down there! Also being male, I think she’s pretty much got me beaten on the feminine empathy aspect too!

So what can I offer them that is different then? Well quite simply, a no nonsense, quick and long lasting change without all the fuss and talking that counseling can bring with it. Counseling can be very good at gaining an understanding as to why we do things by looking at our pasts and analyzing it. The downside of this can be that understanding something doesn’t mean you know who to change it as it’s the past, it’s already happened! Another huge downside is that trawling over painful memories can simply bring all the buried emotions and thoughts back up to the surface.

Here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy, we will allow your unconscious mind to learn every possible learning from your past at a level where you will experience none of the horrible emotions that you went through then, you’ll simply notice you feel a sense of ‘nothingness’ about it now.

The easiest way to find out how Cambridge Hypnotherapy differ from all other therapies out there, is to contact us now for a FREE initial consultation. Here you’ll find out exactly what to expect from your sessions, get all the answers to your questions and most importantly make sure that you feel comfortable to achieve your results here with us. So wether you’re looking to stop smoking with hypnotherapy, lose weight with hypnotherapy, increase your confidence with hypnotherapy or even let go of your phobia with hypnotherapy, we await your call 🙂

Getting or improving your Relationship ~ with Cambridge Hypnotherapy in Cambridge

Monday, April 22nd, 2013

Help to make your relationship special

Putting up with a relationship that is not working is something that so many people put up with.

Why would you do that?

Well the reasons are many

Fear of telling that other person

Fear of being alone

I wouldn’t look right in other people’s eyes

For the sake of the children

And on and on and on and on…………………

The thing is we don’t have to put up with something that does not make us happy and that does not mean the relationship has to end either.

Simply to talking to the other party may get a better picture of how they feel. But… the most important thing is to find out what you want in and from this relationship and equally what do they want. You may be very surprised when you get to understand and see things from another perspective ~ THEIRS! And they to YOURS!

Some lucky people get to be able to do this themselves but not many as we get in the way with our stuff.

So where to? How?

Well that’s where we (Cambridge Hypnotherapy & our sister site  Improving your relationships) come into play. Whether singly or as couple we can assist you to understand the things that are important to you, your values) and the reasons you fail to achieve the things you want.

To discover the beliefs you may have that no longer support you and what you want.

To learn how to communicate with yourself and that special person in your life

Plus many other ways we have learnt and developed to help you and your partner to create the relationship of your dreams.

BUT WHAT IF I’M SINGLE?

Now the above has only really been directed at couples but you can apply similar ways to help you to find the relationship of your dreams. To let go of any anxiety around approaching people, to be able to communicate and gain the rapport with people you find yourself attracted to. You too will have formed beliefs that keep you from being hurt (again) and whilst they have that positive intention they don’t feel good and in order to find the right person for you you have to trust and know it’s not hurt from what you think is being rejected it’s actually a piece of brilliance that allows you not to waste time on someone not right for you and spend it wisely finding the right person that would make you and them happy.

So what should / can you do right now?

Make up your mind(s) to do something because anything is possible with the will, you don’t have to know how ~ That’s our job!

Then do one of two things
