A Master Class in NLP and Hypnosis with a difference!

This February it was so nice to be able to share the things that we do, within our Hypnotherapy Clinics in Cambridge and Bournemouth, to our Students who have become Practitioners with us.

This time was a little different as, with Joseph being in the USA and unable to attend Luke (Clough), yes there’s a bunch of us Cloughs around helping change clients problems quickly and comfortably, came and co-trained with me.

I’m so fortunate to be able to share the things we feel make the difference and have a wonderful rapport with my sons whilst doing so. It always amazes me how supportive we are to each other, wanting each other to excel ahead of ourselves. And it’s this that I feel makes a difference to our training courses and produces things like this

galaxies apart from the rest!

Massive gratitude and thanks to the talented Paul Clough and Luke Clough for the amazing NLP Master Class this wk end! Your skill and passion for helping others overcome their fears and limited beliefs knows no bounds and your exceptional training abilities and enthusiasm to see your practitioners get the best results sets you galaxies apart from the rest! Nat Harrison 1/2/15

And it’s comments like the one above and the enthusiasm show by all our practitioners spurs me on to find even better ways to learn NLP and Real Hypnosis that is useful from the very start and fun, creative and motivational.

Sometimes it’s just the reminding of the simple things that work so well but just need a little practice and more importantly ownership that can create real change. It’s how to make this practice without pressure or anxiety but with a passion to enjoy it all :o)

So be aware if you’re considering NLP and learning Hypnosis it may seriously affect you health……………………IN A GOOD WAY

How to get results in 2-3 sessions with Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Friday, November 1st, 2013

Joseph and I (Paul) have just finished 2 back to back 8 day intensive trainings in both Cambridge & Bournemouth,  teaching NLP, Time Line Therapy™ and Real Hypnosis. For those that don’t know why anyone would want to learn these skills well there’s generally three reasons.

1 For Personal development

2 To thrive in business

3 To become a therapist and help others

The fact is, generally our participants get all three in abundance

It was great to see everyone pass with flying colours and get their certification as Practitioners in NLP, Time Line Therapy™ and as a Master Hypnotist.

The thing I enjoyed most was to firstly watch the delegates sit quietly on that very first morning of the training, probably thinking “what have I done?” to see them grow in confidence and ability far beyond their dreams.

Secondly to have them fully take on board that the things that clients come in with, of the things they themselves wanted to change were not the problem.

What do I mean?

Well Here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy both Luke and I know that the presenting problem is very rarely the problem. Like the metaphor of the weed it’s only a leaf and if you cut it out the weed will only continue to grow more leaves or problems in your life.

And this is where I think we excel better than most therapists because we take time to find the root cause of our client’s issues and then and only then work on that. When the ‘root’ cause disappears then all the presenting problems disappear.

That’s how we literally only require 2-3 sessions to assist our clients to get the change they want in their life and a whole lot more!. In fact you could probably count the clients that needed more than three sessions on the fingers of one hand.

What we don’t tell is what we do at our Complimentary initial consultation and between the sessions that really makes the difference or the processes that we use and have developed ~ that’s our secret of success with clients.

If you want to know more then all you have to do is

Either call us on 01223 720 120 and talk to us in person (we’re really nice and friendly to talk to)

A therapist’s insecurity

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

Have you ever read something about therapies written by a therapist as daft and silly and ill informed as this?

“You may have heard of or even tried other therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Thought Field Therapy (TFT), Neuro Linguistic Therapy (NLP) or even hypnosis, to find that although they may have helped in the short term, eventually your symptoms return or take the form of a new fear or phobia etc, this is known as symptom substitution. This is because these therapies only serve to manage or mask the symptoms and not resolve them permanently.”

I found it on a website promoting their own therapy, giving an ill informed and biased statement to the uniformed public.

To me, I believe there are great therapists around, doing all kinds of ‘stuff’ that we don’t do and getting great results. Ok sometimes they may take a little longer but I really feel it’s the therapist, their genuine intention that really gets the client to get their result.

But let’s have a little closer look at that statement:

CBT ~ hey I thought that’s recognised by the NHS?

TFT (& EFT) ~ has a fantastic number of therapists. Are they and their clients all doing it wrong and their clients simply forgetting to go back to the problems they had ~ Don’t quite think so

NLP ~ You see the thing is the way we do and teach our NLP we always go to the root cause of a problem and get our clients to permanently change in as little as 2-3 sessions. (I won’t tell you how many more sessions that particular therapist needed but it’s more than 7 and less than 13 🙂 )

Hypnosis ~ This therapist also uses hypnosis. A bit of a conflict especially when hypnosis is really only a state and it is in the state of hypnosis the therapist helps the client make the change. So really it’s how good is the therapist, isn’t it?

This may be getting into a little rant here so please forgive me the next couple of points.

Why would someone put down other therapies? A little self confidence issue here maybe? I could suggest a good therapist that could help.

Knowing of this particular therapy, the one that’s supposed to work so well, we have seen many clients who have come to us after being treated in that therapy and it didn’t work for them only for us, using the things that don’t work, to get the result the client wanted. (sorry but could resist)

I’ve also seen other therapist trained in the particular therapy also trained in NLP and CBT ~ now why would they do that and advertise the fact?

This all being said what’s my conclusion?

Well first of all having got this off my chest I’m going to let it all go and concentrate on doing what we do well at and that’s assisting clients change and get what they want ~ to live a happy, healthy and abundant life as quickly and as comfortably as possible.

Secondly, to put a thought out into the world that every client gets their required result with whichever therapist or therapy they feel comfortable with. We all deserve the life we dream of!

Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy in Cambridge ~ can I be hypnotised?

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

We here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy always work with the intention our clients take full responsibility over their issues and also be responsible for their change and success. We (Luke, Joseph & myself) are purely the facilitators of that change ~ we have just developed processes and ways to use Hypnosis and NLP etc that enable our clients to change quickly and easily.

We take responsibility for being able to facilitate the change and on the extremely rare occasions our clients are unable to make the change they desire it is us not being able to help them not that they are “unhypnotizable” (if that’s actually a word) or able to make the change.

It’s when we hear of clients being told by other therapists that it’s they who are a bad client, cannot be hypnotized we shudder in disbelief.

Here’s an exert of a recent email we received:

“I did see a hypnotherapist a few years back to help me with my depression, she tried to take me back to a place in my childhood where she believed everything changed, after three sessions she told me that I was not able to be hypnotised and it was probably because whatever it was was too hard for even my subconscious to bring up, Im not convinced anything really bad happened to me as a child”

Needless to say we do not work in any, shape or form work like that or speak to our clients in such a way

here is part of our reply:

“As for your previous work, we work in a COMPLETELY different approach and
don’t believe everything goes back to childhood. It sounds very much like an
approach which personally we don’t agree with.

We, unlike many, Specialise in Brief Therapy and Lasting Change. With our
passion using NLP, Time Line Therapy, together with Hypnosis we assist in
helping people who really want to change in a comfortable way.

It is difficult to guess the number of sessions you may need, we believe
this should always remain your choice and the fewer the better is our belief
(normally 2-3 sessions). Many clients have achieved their goals even quicker!
We can explain all at an initial consultation.”

We believe (and also teach in our Trainings) that every client is unique and has all the resources they need to make the change they desire.

We also believe we are probably the best at facilitating quick, easy, comfortable and lasting change.

Becoming a Hypnotherapist in Cambridge

Tuesday, September 11th, 2012

Quite often I am asked how I became a Hypnotherapist and how I started working here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy so I thought I’d share with you my journey here.

My background has always been a very sporty one, starting with playing football up to County standard at the age of 16. I then went on to 6th Form College where I studied Physical Education and Psychology, both of which had a module in Sports Psychology within them, and this is what set me on the way to realise just how powerful the mind can be. Leaving College I trained to work in the Fitness Industry and gained a Diploma in Fitness Instructing and Personal Training and went on to work in some of the best gyms in Cambridge. Here it became even clearer to me just how important the mind was when it came to achieving goals, for example, why was it that some people needed a personal trainer yet others could push themselves, or why was everyone so mad keen to get fit and January and the Summer but not in March or October. I worked my way up to Gym Manager and suddenly realised that there was no real job satisfaction for me anymore, and that I wanted to do something else, but the question was… what?

My Father had trained and worked as a hypnotherapist in Cambridge for many years prior to this, and had also introduced my younger brother Joseph into the field where he had also become a fully qualified Hypnotherapist, and they had both also travelled abroad to train to become trainers themselves, meaning they were now qualified to run courses and certify people to become therapists. As it happened, they even had a course coming up at about this time when I knew I wanted to do something different, so I thought why not see what it entails!

After successfully finishing the course, I was now a fully qualified Master Hypnotist, a Practitioner of Time Line Therapy, and a Practitioner of NLP and started working immediately with clients to help them reach their goals at Cambridge Hypnotherapy with my brother and father. Not content with just using the techniques that I now knew, I wanted to further and add to my skill set so also successfully completed the Master Practitioner course. This gave me everything I feel I needed to know to help clients achieve anything they asked for, such as letting go of depression, becoming more confident, losing weight, stopping smoking, or letting go of intense phobias.

6 years on I am still loving what I do, and every day I am glad I took the plunge from the safe yet mundane career with a regular pay cheque each month, into the diverse job I now do, and am very proud to be able to say that I am a full time Hypnotherapist in Cambridge.

If you would like to find out more about the issues that we work with here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy please click here, and you can also find out about the course run by Joseph and Paul Clough by clicking here.

Have a great day!

Successful New Year’s Resolutions with Hypnotherapy in Cambridge.

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

We have all made New Year’s Resolutions only to find them disappearing within a day or two from our minds.

Why is that?

One reason is that we all have a little baggage, some emotions like anger, sadness or guilt that seems to be around just when we don’t want it or lie in the background like a shadow. It’s these things that if we don’t let them go we will never get what we want and the thing is we deserve to have all the things we dream of having and experiencing ~ Well that’s our belief.

There used to be a belief in therapy that to let things go, change our negative beliefs takes a long long time, over many sessions. In fact we still see this on some therapists websites saying “10-12 sessions usually required”!!!!!!! (they’re our !!!!!!!! marks!!!)

The thing is that’s not the way we see it here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy we rarely see anybody more than three sessions before we get their results.

So with this in mind why would you want to wait to change the way you feel now to how you want to feel. You wouldn’t and couldn’t if you really want to be the way you want to be. And that’s the key really wanting (and you don’t have to know how because we know the how)

And here’s another and

it costs you nothing to find out if we’re right for you

all you have to do is contact us and arrange a Complimentary Consultation ~ 20 minutes to how we can help you and get a complimentary Hypnosis cd and 2 hypnosis downloads too! and (yes another and) they’ll be no pressure from us because it’s always your choice.

If you want you can call and speak with us personally on 01223 720 120

Hypnotherapy Masterclass with Joseph and Paul Clough ~ Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

This weekend Joseph and I are sharing our developments in hypnosis and hypnotherapy in Cambridge to other hypnotherapists, NLP & Time Line Therapy practitioners.

I believe we have taken previous processes, stripped them down to what really works and then made them even better with our own ‘stuff’. ‘Stuff’ being the very technical word for the things we (Joseph, Luke and I, Paul) have developed that create both remarkable change in our clients and really fast change. In effect how we at Cambridge Hypnotherapy manage to see our clients generally no more than three sessions where many others take 8 – 12 sessions.

In fact we took this to Israel where the therapists we taught we taking that long and couldn’t believe change, real change could be so fast, comfortable and lasting ~ and now they do!

So you can see we are and will be continually be striving to create even better ways to utilise in our brand of therapy here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy.

If you are a therapist and want to find out more or when our next weekend Masterclass is being held email info@josephcloughtrainings

How to find a great NLP training and ensure you get the most from it.

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

“So why is it so important to find the right training for you?”

Well, it’s a great investment of your time and money and learning NLP can be either the best thing you ever do or leave you disappointed. Through the right training, with the right trainers, learning NLP can truly change your life for the better.

“So how do you decide the difference between and excellent training and one that isn’t?”

Between one that simply teaches techniques and intellectual theories and the right one, that gives you and creates in you the skills and abilities, that you can use in your way to get you want.

“What should a truly excellent training and excellent trainers provide?”

Live demonstrations and exercises of the demonstrations so you can have the most complete way of learning, as well as being able to ask questions freely and just as importantly get the answers to those questions. The trainers should be able to demonstrate all the skills they teach and give personal examples of how they use them now – not just theory. Can they and do they practise what they teach?

More than just the NLP curriculum? Does the training just teach the set curriculum or do the trainers give and teach more than they need to because they want to and are passionate about you and giving you more than just what’s required? Are the trainers willing to share what they know or do they keep it for a further training or an additional module?

Are the trainings moulded to the outcomes of every delegate and do the trainers ask what you want from the training before you enrol? That presupposes you can speak to the trainers personally before you enrol which should be a must. If they won’t speak to you before, how far will they go to make this the best training you have attended? Could you meet with them before you enrol?

Testimonials are important but can you speak with the person quoted? You might want to wonder why not.

Back up and support should be something that is given and expected free of charge. Will you able to contact the trainers after you course for help and advice? If so, for how long after?

Guarantee – Does the training offer a full 100% guarantee if you are not satisfied?

These are just a few considerations that you should want answering before you have the most enjoyable and learning experience of NLP.

Our Cambridge NLP, Time Line Therapy(tm) and Hypnosis practice group

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Well, we had our second practice group on Saturday and had 20 people attending, half being practitioners and half interested guests. It was great to spend a whole day together sharing our thoughts and experiences together with ‘real life‘ practicing.

The great thing is that everybody learnt things about themselves.
Practitioners remembering what they thought they had forgotten and the confidence to show that it was still there, ‘in the muscle’, to our guests.

Our guests got quite a surprise to find out we were going to teach them some basic tools of NLP that they could take away with them and use them to change the way they feel and the real surprise ~ that they would learn a hypnotic induction and put a practitioner in trance and bring them back again!

What was nice for me was that having lunch together, our guests could ask questions freely, meet new and interesting people and it was a chance to hear how many different things our practitioner were achieving in both their social and business lives.

A great day for everyone and all for less than £20!

If by chance you have stumbled onto this posting and are interested in coming along either:

as a guest, that is someone interested in finding out more about NLP, Time Line Therapy(tm) and our Real Hypnosis

NLP practice group in Cambridge

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Last Saturday saw the re-surfacing of our NLP practice group.
Previously we met once a month, in the evening, but that seemed to restrict those who had to travel a distance. So we (Joseph & I) decided to change this to a Saturday and make it a whole day. This allowed us more time to refresh our knowledge in a particular area of NLP & Hypnosis and then do something completely new.

So what did we do last Saturday?

Firstly with some traveling over an hour to get here we had time to catch up and find out what we’d all been doing in the field of NLP etc. Just listening to all the different things we’d been doing and experiencing was really inspiring to do more and gave us all different ideas & things we too could do.

We went on to master our skills in questioning with a live project, a real person and based on a real issue.

After lunch we decided to find what would be some of the best states, behaviours and beliefs of being the best practitioner or therapist. Having refined this to something we could install in ourselves it was time for hypnosis and we installed all these wonderful and empowering resources into each other. So not only were we practicing inductions, installations we were creating change – real change.

In the next practice group we hope to bring along friends so they to can experience NLP, Time Line Therapy and Hypnosis and we can all learn. It’s also hoped we can find someone we can model. Someone who does something really well so we can learn how to do it too.

Who knows what exciting things we can find to do next?

Maybe we’ll see you there too.

Email me if you want to find out more (our NLP, Time LIne Therapy and Hypnosis training)

I’m looking forward to the next one
