SO what is it about the Yo-yo effect of dieting?

Why do so many people go on a diet and crash only to find they become heavier than they started and more saddened and unmotivated?

Why do some people fall off the healthy eating and exercise regime and never get to their weight and shape they dream of and long for?

There’s probably one answer to all those at the heart, with a few side issues tagged along.

When we set our new weight goal how many know that the new you will be a different person than the old in so many ways?

Very few is the answer. They seem to think when we reach the goal we can live like we did before. Some even think they can live like they did before during this transition.

Guess what? It will never happen!

The old adage of ‘do what you did before = get what you got before’ is there for a reason.

SO how can we make this change with ease?

Firstly if we understand we will be a different person then we need to let go of the underlying beliefs towards food and exercise that have underpinned the old you, when you do this the changes become exciting and natural and not ‘a regime’ or a hardship or a sacrifice.

Yes we know that this to the conscious and intellectual way of thinking makes complete sense, doing this without knowing how is almost impossible. That’s where someone like us comes in to play, because we do this part for a living ~ it’s second nature to us, it’s what we’re trained to do.

You don’t need fad diets, fad hypno bandy thingies (we’ve written about those before!) simply letting go of negative beliefs and old emotional attachments to food etc with a little tweak to our motivation strategy and away you go.

If for those who need company or assistance after that then you may consider:

  • A personal trainer to start you off gradually where you will see and feel quick improvements
  • A nutritionist to help you prepare your healthy eating life
  • Join one of the diet clubs because now you can with confidence of finishing where you want to be.
  • Get a couple of friends along and plan your own workouts
  • Find out about new and exotic foods that tantalize you taste buds and become a food connoisseur where you savor the taste not the quantity.
  • Plus any other wonderful pursuits your new you can explore….Hmmmmm.

There you go that should be enough to get you thinking in the right way.

Changing your life with Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Someone I know spent some time in Japan and on one occasion was talking to a friend of his who explained some excellent ‘common sense’ wisdom.

Basically, it makes sense to put your own happiness, your own health, your own well being first, because then you’re in a better position to help the other people in your life that you love.

Often a client will say something like, ”I know this sounds a little big headed but I think I’m generally a good person/good at this or that.”  and the thing is there is nothing ‘Big headed’ about accepting and acknowledging each and every positive aspect of yourself. We could all benefit from spending more time building ourselves up rather than than knocking ourselves down.

A client once asked, ‘What kind of people does this work best for?’
The reply, ‘The kind of people who are ready to change and to be prepare to do anything to achieve the change they want, in effect to be totally honest with themselves.’

Being prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve the change and to be totally honest with ourselves can be a little tough at first but with our help the results are fantastic.

When we find our feet’, find out what we truly want, we can start making plans, changes and living in a way that feels right for us. Only when we’re completely honest with ourselves can we find out what we truly want, what we will truly enjoy.

Lose weight with Hypnotherapy? Let’s change your mindset about food and watch that happen anyway!!!

2013 is upon us, and no doubt 1000’s of people out there are now starting to plan their new healthy eating diets and joining up with their local gyms in order to lose weight, as this year they’re sure things will be different…..

I admire their initial motivation, and their positive approach to weight loss is wonderful to see, but I really do think that these people are approaching losing weight COMPLETELY wrong. The reason I think this is simple….. FOOD is not the problem, THEY are!! As they think about not eating that rich chocolate cake that’s in the fridge, or those tins of chocolates left over after Christmas, or even all those other goodies they have in the cupboard, one thing is for certain…. they are thinking about food!! Quite simply whatever you focus on you will get, even if you are telling yourself not to do it.

You can try this yourself pretty simply by doing the following… First think about not eating chocolate and notice what happens. I’m sure you are already thinking about the chocolate that you want to not eat, and how good it tastes when you ate it before. Now go ahead and think about eating a nice juicy orange, and notice the pictures you create in your mind. Completely different pictures right? However, when you look at it both outcomes are the same, only one is focusing on what you want to not do, and the other on what you do want to do. Compare this to a Sat Nav…. how often would you ever put in where you don’t want to go to? If you did put in where you wanted to not go to, it would end up taking you there, not good!

tips to stop smoking from Cambridge Hypnotherapy

Tips to help you stop smoking.

Whilst we know hypnosis and hypnotherapy claim a great success rate helping smokers to be non-smokers.

And

We, here at Cambridge Hypnotherapy, believe we have developed even better ways and processes using our experience of hypnosis and NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) we also understand this is not for everyone. Although it is far easier with us than going cold turkey we thought we would give a few pointers for those wanting to do it by themselves.

First of all the main reason we lose our will power or resolve is because when we stop smoking without planning properly most smokers begin to try to behave just the same as before not utilising a different behaviour in it’s place.

Some start drinking more alcohol, others eat more or keep picking at food between meals and some just get lethargic and watch TV more.

The result of all this is more weight and sluggishness ending going back to the dreaded weed!

Why does this happen? It’s because we have acknowledged what smoking was doing for us, such as taking us away from stress or boredom.  If we don’t re[place smoking with a new set of behaviours that also deal with what smoking was doing for us them we are doomed to failure.

So if you want to try and stop by yourself here’s a few tips:

·                  Pick a date suitably in the future when you will stop.

·                  Think about when you smoke what is smoking doing for you and write them down

·                  Think about necan rightly w ways you can achieve the same thing for you and write  them down

·                  Make notes on what you can do that’s really different and that you can’t smoke at the same time and prepare to them.

·                  On the evening before the set day really concentrate on smoking and realise it’s just a silly behaviour and that you know far better ways. After your last smoke ceremoniously crush and throw away the packet.

·                  When you wake up have a nice shower and put on some nice, clean comfortable clothes.

·                  Give yourself credit and praise every hour for doing so well.

So you can go this way if you like, some do and get great results but a lot fail with all good intentions because the thing is it’s our unconscious mind that runs the smoking behaviour and changing consciously is very hard.
