Overcoming Anorexia with Hypnosis and NLP
Hypnosis and NLP can be a very profound tools to not only help you be free of Anorexia but also give you all the self esteem and confidence in yourself to be happy in and with yourself and that means being healthy too.
In order for us to explain how Hypnotherapy, and especially our unique and especially developed ways of hypnotherapy, is great for letting go of Anorexia its important to know more about what Anorexia is and what the general symptoms are. Then we can see exactly how we can make big changes in becoming and regaining the real you again.
Anorexia nervosa (usually shortened to simply Anorexia) is described as "an eating disorder characterized by extremely low body weight and body image distortion with an obsessive fear of gaining weight."
Most people think that those who suffer with Anorexia are female (usually teenagers) however approximately 10% of people with the diagnosis are male
So what are the most common emotional and psychological symptoms? :
Having a distorted image of what our body is really like
Self-evaluation usually in terms of our shape and weight
Obsessive thoughts about food, self image and weight
An underlining belief that this is all I can control
Usually thoughts of needing to be perfect
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
Belief that control over food/body is synonymous with being in control of one's life
Refusal to accept that one's weight is dangerously low even when it could be deadly Low self-esteem and self-efficacy
Phobia of becoming overweight
Clinical depression or chronically low mood
This can also cause the behavioral symptoms to, for example:
Excessive exercise, food restriction
Secretive about eating or exercise behavior
Social withdraw or being asocial
Very sensitive to references about body weight
Aggressive when forced to eat "forbidden" foods
Weighing themselves and constantly checking themselves in the mirror
Why our Hypnosis really helps those suffering from Anorexia.
Firstly its important to know that people suffering with anorexia are doing so on purpose, in fact they feel they are right in what they are doing.
Someone with the anorexia eating disorder is creating images in their mind of how they perceive they look to others.
When someone without it, looks in the mirror or a photo of themselves more often than not they see how they are in reality. Someone with anorexia sees themselves in a very distorted way. They can see themselves as ugly and or overweight. So no matter how many say no you are not over weight, your underweight they cannot accept it as in there perception/reality they are overweight.
This is the brain/unconscious mind distorting the reality. They will have beliefs, thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are happening unconsciously which the conscious mind cannot control.
At Cambridge Hypnotherapy we guide you to get in touch with the unconscious mind to get clear on the real reality rather the distorted. To run new beliefs, feelings, behaviors which are in alignment with the reality and that are healthy.
NLP, which is used in the Hypnosis is also a great tool to make changes.
NLP (Neuro Lingustic Programming) is about retraining the mind to think, act and react differently.
Ultimately we must remember that they are doing what they are doing for the best of intentions, as people with anorexia inside feel they are maybe not good enough, ugly or fat.
Its simply about using Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, NLP like on my Hypnosis CDs to really see the reality, to empower by installing true and supporting beliefs, feelings and behaviors.
We know all of the above can be difficult to make changes by yourself. That's why we suggest you try hypnotherapy for better results. Through hypnosis Joseph, Luke and Paul Clough, three Master hypnotherapist can help you change your thought patterns.
